Harry Reid is also the asshole who helped destroy the American Insurance industry for a year last year with his comments.

What?

When the bailout was being debated in the autumn of 2008, after AIG, Wamu, and Wachiovia failed, Reid made some highly inflammatory public comments that another American insurance company was going to fail unless the bailout was approved. (but wouldn't name the company)

Since the American stock market is powered by speculation and panic, all Insurance stocks lost massive amounts of value which they are still not recovered from.

Long story short - there was plenty of rumors of AIG, Wamu, and Wachovia failing before they actually did. There was no other insurance company that was rumored to fail; Reid made comments out of his ass that eventually screwed the other companies that were doing just fine.

It is pathetic how the left uses race and "outrage" only when it convenient to their cause.

Funny how the left and the media portrays conservatives and Tea Party attendees as the knuckle dragging racists, when the truth of the matter is the some of biggest ones exist in the Elite left.

This event does not help the cause or fit the false narrative so it gets a pass.

Where's the Congressional Black Caucus and the NAACP ? Sharpton speaks for all people of color? Huh?

Sharpton, Reid, Pelosi, Obama....charlatans all.

Add Queef Slobberman to the list. Lets see if he has a "special comment" on this. If Jim Demint said this all the usual suspects would have crawled out of the woodwork with pitchforks and torches. Slobberman would have a fucking meltdown on MSNBC

Reid should go.

Negro? Who uses the term Negro anymore?

Plus, he's pretty inert as Majority Leader, anyway.

Obama turned up the "Negro dialect" when he was speaking to black audiences. In his defense, though, Hillary did the same thing.

It was time for Reid to retire before this puzzling phraseology.

Reid has always been a bit of a gaffe machine, but I'm not mad at him for that.

I'm mad at him because he's been given the magic number 60 and he isn't efficient with it.

Trent Lott was forced to step down as Majority Leader after he praised Strom Thurmond by saying he would have made an excellent President (he ran as a segragationalist in 1948). Reid used the word Negro.

Double standard much?

Right now, the best thing that can happen for the dems is to have Reid step down as majority leader and install somebody who can actually get the job done.

Mr. Reid said he believed the country would support a black presidential candidate, particularly Mr. Obama, whom he privately explained was “a light-skinned” African-American “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.”

So is he saying that had the president been a “dark -skinned” African-American with a “Negro dialect” he would’ve had less of a chance to be elected?

Was his comment better or worse than Trent Lott's? If you answer honestly, should he also be removed from his position?

What Republican Trent Lott said at Strom Thurmond's birthday - "I want to say this about my state: When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years, either."

What Democrat Harry Reid said, while describing Obama's chances at securing the Presidential Nomination - He described Obama as a “light-skinned” African American “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.”
__________________________

Trent Lott resigned after the fallout of what he said and Harry should not resign? The precedent has been set. Do us all a favor and LEAVE, HARRY !!!! I guess its OK for Harry to be that way as long as he apologizes, right?

What a bunch of BULLSHIT.

Reid is an white, old, privileged politician who doesn't know shit about a lot of people he's supposed to serve, and there are A LOT of guys like him in Washington. He should go with such primitive, but not surprising, comments.

What do you think?

I think he was somehow trying to “compliment” the president for not being “too dark and too Negro” to win. Yet he apologized to the president. Shouldn’t he have apologized to all the “dark-skinned" people who talk like "Negroes” who in his view apparently have “less” chance to win?

Another example of the two-faced attitude in politics that I hate.

If a Republican had said these same words he's have been forced to resign in a matter of minutes.

"I think if you look at the reports as I have, it was all in the context of saying positive things about Senator Obama," said Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine. "It definitely was in the context of recognizing in Senator Obama a great candidate and future president."

That's considered a compliment.

Couldn't he have just said " He's very articulate for one of them. " ?

I don't remember exactly what it was Trent Lott said years ago but I know it caused quite enough of a stink for his own party to force him out of his role and I don't remember ir being nearly as cut and dry prejudice ( I won't use racism because I don't think it was ).

Maybe I'm getting it confused in perspective but it's not like I'm some kinda Trent Lott supporter.

Its another clear example of the racial double standard in politics. Nothing will happen to Reid and the agenda referred to in a previous post will roll on until everyone finally has enough. Reid finally has a filibuster proof majority and still has to steal votes. The guy is a clown but liberals love clowns, just look at who they vote for. Enjoy a few more months libs the party is coming to an end.

No.
It is the truth. However, using the phrase "negro dialect" was inappropriate.
Are you going to pretend that appearance (whether it's race or height) doesn't play a part in how people vote?

What was the average height during every election? Are presidents usually above or below that height? Coincidence?
Do you want to apologize to shorter people?

Looking on the Foxnews web-site, I naturally found a wealth of examples of famous political racists. I know it is an awful thing to say, but Earl Butz's comment, whereas incendiary; might be the funniest thing I have ever read.

http://www.foxnews.com/slideshow/politics/2010/01/11/history-backpedaling?slide=9

It sounds like a line from, Eastbound and Down.

"The only thing the coloreds are looking for in life are tight pussies , loose shoes and a warm place to shit," Butz reportedly said. Apparently his comments came after he told a joke about a dog fucking a skunk.

Dig this Fuck up and run him in 2012!!!! He's no better or worse than the loathsome rabble we have representing us now.

I didn't see the 60 Minutes segment on this book but apparently there was no mention of either Reid's comment or the one attributed to Bill Clinton.

The authors of the book were on Imus this morning and said that Ted Kennedy, who was supposedly the person to whom Clinton made the comment, was extremely upset by it.

I'm sure good old drunk Teddy had rolled off a few prejudicial comments in his day.

I heard that one of Reid's initila defenses about the comment were that he thought it was " off the record ".

Does that make the comment less damaging or more ?
