So Sony and Marvel have gone ahead and cancelled the upcoming SPider-man 4, got rid of all actors and crew, and are completely rebooting the franchise. (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/43595)

New movie coming out in 2012. It will focus more on Spidey dealing with being a teenager with superpowers. Isn't that like Ultimate Spider-man (never read it)?

What do you wanna see in the new interpretation of the movie? Any actors or actresses or villians/superheros you wanna see in the movie?

I'd rather see that than Anne Hathaway playing "The Vultress" as was rumored a month or so ago.

I don't know, I think the first two Spider-Man movies are about as good as you can make it for that character.

But the third one definitely killed a lot for the franchise going forward....both Osbournes are dead, they wasted Venom completely...

I think making it a teen movie is going to be pretty bad...I'd like to see them have Peter as a young college student, and work the whole Gwen Stacy story, and slowly reintroduce MJ after Gwen's death....the problem is they burned a lot of the Gwen Stacey stuff for Mary Jane's story in the first movie, so it'd basically be remaking a lot of the first movie, which would be kind of stupid.

I'm not confident they can make a better movie than the first two.

The first Spider-Man was ok at best. I loved the 2nd one. The 3rd one was dogshit. Im a huge Spider-Man mark so for me, this is great news.

Im hoping they do the first one right and stay closer to the original story. MJ shouldnt even be introduced until either the end or the 2nd movie. I know this is going to sound dumb, but if you ever watch the newest cartoon series that has been out that is the best example Ive seen of a Spidey story sticking as close to the original as possible.

I think when they first made Spidey they figured if they got 3 they were lucky, so they threw as much in as they could. Now after watching Batman they learned that if you tell a good story and take your time you can have a franchise character good for alot more then 3 movies. Especially Spider-Man who has the greatest collection of super villain enemies out of any comic.

If done right, this could be a chance to make a truly great franchise series. They can right alot of wrongs here. And do some serious justice to the super villains. I agree Green Goblin shouldnt be the first enemy either. I loved that Kravens last hunt idea. Or even someone like the Vulture, Electro or the Lizard.

Never believe a rumour from a british newspaper.

Malkovich said in an interview he was going to be the Vulture late last week and was waiting for the script.

I'd like to eventually see Lizard, Scorpion, Electro and Rhino. Such cool characters you can flesh out more.

Id personally like to see them build up to a movie where he battles the Sinister Six. You can do that over the course of 6 movies and still kill off the original Green Goblin.

I heard the reboot is going to be faithful to the Electric Company version of Spiderman.

His dad fucked a black widow. Then she ate him. That's why he lives with his aunt and uncle.

The idea about the Lizard is a good one. Dr Curt Conner has been in all 3 movies now. They need to go ahead and do that story line. Maybe even bring back Eddie Brock, put him in jail with Cletus Casidy for the Carnage angle. Could have worked if they did not kill Brock though. A little too late to bring him back to life though.

As the articles have said, they're not continuing the old series. They're rebooting the franchise ala Batman Begins (they hope).

And Ultimate Spider-man has had the best Spider-man stories in the last 20 years if not more. I wouldn't say that the entire thing has been incredible, but Bendis told some great stories in there.

I reacted to this with total indifference. I'm so bored with superhero movies. I give Raimi credit for walking away when he began to sense that the same developmental mistakes that caused part three to stink were being committed on its follow-up, though. By all accounts, Raimi was the only party left among Marvel and Sony who actually cared more about the film's quality than selling action figures or meeting a predetermined summer release date.
