Why would Kimmel jump into this, I thought he and Leno were friendly. The thing is if Conan was able to beat Letterman (who has been phoning it in for 15 years) this wouldn't be an issue, but NBC doesn't want Leno to go to FOX and compete against them. I guess NBC figured Conan wasn't going to improve (Craig Fergusen was even beating him at 12:35).

Kimmel is my favorite late night show, and I almost couldn't finish watching that opening. It was so painfully unfunny that it was hard to sit through. He did a great job of demonstrating how lazy and boring Leno's show actually is. And always has been.

Gotta block those highlights from Japan. It might cut into revenue Jimmy could earn selling a show that Japan doesn't have any interest in showing.

This is precisely why so many people around the world pirate movies and music. The people of the western entertainment industry blocks it from international viewers (while, in many cases, letting the commercials stream on through.)

South Park, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report do not block their streaming content internationally. Why should Jimmy Kimmel?

As I recall, you didn't hear shit from Doc Severinson unless Johnny called on him. Of course, there was also Ed McMahon drunkenly laughing on the couch, so that kind of balanced it out.

Conan O'Brien makes pretty good use of Max Weinberg, but I think the talk show band concept is kind of played out.

same for the co host. i love andy but really, he is just standing there. You are right, Doc ONLY spoke if Johnny spoke to him. Ed laughed but didnt repeat or talk over johnny unless he was really drunk, like in this clip:

Paul Shaffer knows when to chime in and help out Letterman when he needs it. Kevin Eubanks steps all over Leno's lines and doesn't take the hint that Leno wants to move on to his next topic. Awful, and after all these years he's still as bad as he was in the beginning.

I loved the Kimmel show when it first premiered. It was completely different than any other late night show, but he just turned into the same old show. It got boring.
