I have only two:

I took a class at Ole Miss in the 90's called the "Anthology of the Blues". The professor made a career out of studying the old Delta Blues music. It's the only class out of my 4.5 years there that I wish I'd kept the notes for. Every day the good Dr. would play us several of these old Depression-era blues men, analyze them thoroughly, and tell their hard-luck stories. Prof. died of a sudden heart attack not long after I took the class, and all his work died with him. I did, however, happen to buy this Robert Wilkins CD as a result of the class, and I still listen to it all the time.

I don't remember where or when I was introduced to this one, but it's equally good. The guitar playing in this one makes me really want to learn the guitar.

There's a great double-disc set out there of one of Son House's last performances. In between each song, he gives a little history about the song.

I like Hill Country Blues obviously.

Me too...Here's another Burnside (although he just took the name and is somewhat related to R.L.)

He plays with Lightnin' Malcolm (Juke Joint Duo) and I have never seen a drummer play his drums as hard as Ced does. They are great live. I saw them in a juke joint called, GIP'S PLACE in Bessemer, Alabama. Mr. Gip is a 70+ year old Grave digger by day and has a tin shed on his property that hosts blues musicians twice a month---for free. Its as authentic a blues experience as you can get. A ton of fun. Fried catfish for sales, shots given to you by Mr. Gip, grass, the whole bit.....its Americana!!!! You're elbow to elbow with whites, blacks, old, young, all there for one reason----To hear the real deal.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qJ9GJ9C9pKs&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qJ9GJ9C9pKs&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

And Here's a clip of the aforementioned, Mr. Gip's place-----the new home of hillcountry, straight blues and all the like.

That rules. I wonder if it's like Kimbrough's juke joint was back in the day.

As far as Burnsides go, you must know about North Mississippi Allstars/Hill Country Revue. If not, there are several Burnsides involved in these projects with the Dickinson borthers. I have a live album by the Allstars and R.L. himself was on stage for at least a few of the songs.

This is probably some of the most amazing blues harmonica I have ever heard. Not only does it swing great, but the tone is incredible. At times it sounds like a saxaphone.
