I know some people do and others think its disgusting to share their bed with a filthy animal.
Personally I can't get a decent nights sleep unless my puppy is stretched out against my back.

I hooked up with this chick once and went to her house to screw. She had 3 Golden Retrievers and they all slept in the bed with her. So, we are making out and moving to her bed and there the damn dogs were laying. I pushed one off on the floor and she hit the roof. Absolutely freaked out that I did that and said that it was their bed and if they wanted to be up there that's the way it is. Ok, I just wanted her ass so I would put up with anything. She threw back the covers and we started going at it. My mouth immediately was full of dog hair and I stopped and tried to spit out the hair and she thought I was being an ass because all 5 of us were in her bed by now. She went cold and it pissed me off so I said fuck it and left. Never talked with that chick again but told anyone who would listen that knew her about he dog situation. It is not normal and most agreed that it was probably why she had been single for years after a nasty divorce. Animals dont belong in bed in my world.

It's different for "you people".
You use them for warmth.

We have a 16 year old Lasso and she has stairs to get herself up.
Strangely in the last week or so she starts on the bed but we find her sleeping on the floor when we wake up in the morning.
I think she's get disoriented and just plops wherever she is.
Although this morning she did seem to know where the stairs were and decided to stay on the floor anyway.
Incidentally if we sleep elsewhere or the dog is not w/ it we find it wierd because we expect to hear her tags jingling.

When my cats were alive, one would always find her way to the foot of the bed and sleep on my feet. I would wake up and try to roll over and have to push her off my feet.

Since I got this puppy a week ago, he slept in a crate in the bedroom. But he whined and whimpered and I took him out and let him in the bed and the noise stopped right away. He has not had any accidents and he actually let's me know if he needs to get down and I bring him into the kitchen by the wee wee pads and he goes there. Its kind of nice feeling his heat radiating agaisnt me. Its like having a hot water bottle. I insist that he needs to be clean though. If he had any stink, no way.

Cats = YES
Shit eating, shit stepping dogs = NO WAY! (especially when they have the "wet dog" smell)
Dogs "scooting" across the carpet sure is funny, but dogs scooting on my pillows or sheets is grounds for euthenasia...

my cat would force his way on the bed when he was younger. when i tried to move him, he would dig his claws into my thighs. when i tried to move around in the bed, he would dig his claws into my legs. it was more like, he was letting me sleep in his bed... :o

Do you maybe think that with his acute canine olfactory system he feels the same way about you?

Does anyone know if its bad for the dog or not to learn to sleep in your bed with you? I mean as far as developing seperation anxiety or other behavioral issues?

Two cats and a Yorky. Once cat sleeps on me, the other sleeps on my wife and the dog kicks it at the foot of the bed. If I'm not around the dog will sleep in my place.

The dogs stay in the bed while I'm reading/watching tv, but when I go to sleep, I put them in their crates. 2 of my cats sleep on my bed, and the oldest one has decided he must sleep directly next to my face, giving me horrid allergies. If I kick him out he scratches like crazy at the door. The feral we took in will occasionally sneak into bed in the middle of the night and start "makin biscuits" (kneading with her claws over and over) right on my fucking leg.

We have to keep our cat out for the most part because he will do exactly that, and he won't calm down. And he will attempt to wake us up at 5-6 in the morning on non-work days so he can be fed. Our door doesn't shut all the way, so we have to prop a chair up against it.
