Teen stabbed woman 60 times in Lauderdale Lakes slaying-January 19, 2010
A 16-year-old boy is accused of stabbing a neighbor more than 60 times because she refused to give him $5 so he could buy marijuana, according to an arrest report released Tuesday.
Justin McDonald, of Lauderdale Lakes, is charged with first-degree murder in the Saturday night killing of 62-year-old Vibbins Williams, who lived near his second-story Caravel Arms apartment, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
The victim's granddaughter, T'keyah Butler, of Pompano Beach, recalled finding Williams bleeding in her apartment.
"She was barely breathing," Butler said. "I told her, 'Please don't die on us.'"
Butler said she called 911, then held her grandmother's hand as she and Williams said they loved each other. When paramedics arrived, they took Williams to Broward General Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The slaying occurred at about 9 p.m. Saturday, when McDonald entered Williams' apartment and asked her for $5 so he could buy marijuana, the arrest report said. But Williams refused and told him to leave her apartment, officials said.
That's when McDonald grabbed a knife from his pocket, stabbed her more than 60 times and stole $34 from her purse, the report said.
He fled, changed his clothes and threw the knife in a nearby field, officials said.
He rode his bicycle back to the apartment complex, where a security guard who had seen him entering and leaving Williams' apartment pointed him out to deputies, the report said.
