Burning ass can be caused by a lot of things, including diarrhea, too vigorous wiping with toilet paper, hemorrhoids, and other inflammatory problems of the GI tract. If it's there all the time, you probably need to get checked out by a proctologist (a doctor who specializes in ass-problems).

The main answer is to prevent it from happening in the first place. Citrucel fiber supplement works great to bulk up your stools and prevent anal damage when the turds emerge. Using a hydrocortisone ointment when you're suffering from it will usually cool off the symptoms (you can buy this over the counter...use the ointment, not the cream).

Ice cream will not help (sticky!!!) but cool compresses can make it feel better if it's really bad.
