My bunghole warms up when I drink red wine

A question to draw upon your medical and vintner skills....

When I drink red wine (or red wine products like port) my asshole seems to warm up. Its not unpleasant just feels kind of funky and its just the outer rim or sphincter. I don't have to drink much, maybe a couple glasses of wine or a glass of port. I don't have any other adverse reaction to red wine, I know some people complain they get headaches because of the tannins (which I've recently heard is bunk) and no other kind of liquor has this effect.

Thoughts wise one?

Red wine can cause constriction and then dilation of blood vessels in some people. This causes the famed "red wine migraines" and could be causing the warm feeling in your bunghole. I'm postulating that the dilation of the arteries in your sphincter causes heat to radiate, causing a hot feeling.

Otherwise who the hell knows? :-) Red wine has prostaglandins that some people can't metabolize; this could cause flushing and a warm feeling as the capillaries dilate, again radiating heat from the bloodstream to the tissues.

I'm just grasping. I have no real answer for you.

Hey, no worries :) Your explanation was as good as I've heard so thats what I'm going with. Next time I'm into the malbec and my asshole starts to twitch I can proclaim I'm sensitive to prostaglandins!
