today is National Signing Day.

It wasnt anything to get super excited about for Rutgers until the last 3 or 4 days. First, Schiano got Rashad Knight, a 4 star safety to decommit to Michigan and sign with Rutgers.

Then he signed a 4 star under armour all american 6'6 WR from Maryland over ND, BC Maryland and Florida State.

Then just this morning, they grabbed a 4 star athlete safety/WR/QB prospect over FSU and Miami. Somehow Schiano has managed to commit more than 10 kids from FLORIDA to come to New Jersey to play at Rutgers. Florida still has the number 1 class according to the experts, and Texas was 2nd.

Rutgers got a huge boost to theirs the past couple days though.

As young as our team is, I didn't expect them to really make much noise anyway (http://www.testudotimes.com/2010/2/3/1289223/2010-signing-day-maryland)

I do like what i'm reading about this Javarie Johnson fellow

between ESPN, rivals, and scout.com you can get a pretty good feel. No one really knows how the kids will actually turn out but they lay out pretty good over the 3 sites all you need to know about each kid.

no, its not. those 3 sites follow it all year round. in fact you can go right now and look at the kids your schools are talking to for next years recruiting class. Most of these kids ive followed through their Sr year in HS that signed this year. Start lookin into it for next year and you will start to pick up more. they even put up highlights of most kids

Gotta say I'm pretty impressed with how Dooley Jr handled the Kiffin fiasco in Tennesse, and pulling a very good class together. They managed to keep most of Kiffin's prospects, and even steal a few away during the last week.

And obviously I'm thrilled with AU's class. Almost every need was filled by big time playmakers, and the #1 O-Line class, and huge pick ups for the D front 7. A little light on D-backs which we sorely needed, but they've already got a 2011 committment from a 2009 prospect they placed at a JUCO, so help is already on it's way for next year's class.

And, yes, 'cruitin is a year round spectator sport, specially down here.

Sorry, I was on Rivals from 7 a.m. until around 2 p.m when the final Letter of Intent was received, and spent my luch hour trying to get an internet feed of Corey Lemonier's announcement on ESPNU.

I just about wore out my F5 button on my keyboard.

(he signed with Auburn, btw)

Coaching Staff reaction to the Lemonier announcement...

http://i836.photobucket.com/albums/zz281/wareagle2847/lem.jpg

Yeah, 'cruitin is a big deal down here. Even as arrogant as Nick Saban is... he knows that he can't win without great players.

I'm trying to not be overly optomistic, but I expect great things this year from former-gaytor-Juco-transfer QB Cam Newton.

And it's hard not to already imagine ESPN #1 RB Michael Dyer running behind this monster O-line in a couple of years.

I just can't say enough good things about this coaching staff. From 5-7 under Tuberville's last year, to 8-5, a bowl win, and picking up a top-5 'cruitin class... if they can stay together, this staff will accomplish a lot.

15. Texas A&M
Head of the class: OT Luke Joeckel, OT Jake Matthews
Buzz: You really can't talk about the Texas A&M 2010 class without first talking about the group of offensive linemen that the Aggies have assembled as it just might be the best collection of offensive linemen in the country. Joeckel is a complete offensive tackle, Matthews can play every position on the line, Cedric Ogbuehi is one of the best pass-protectors in the country and Shep Klinke has a nasty physical presence in the trenches. Though they lost some commitments late, the Aggies still managed to add some talent to the defensive side of the ball in Ivan Robinson and Jonathan Mathis on the defensive interior as well as guys like Toney Hurd Jr., Damontre Moore and Domonique Patterson. Despite that defensive help, A&M should continue to see its strength on offense. Two four-star running backs in D.J. Jones and Ben Malena and three high school quarterbacks are all part of this class as well. - Simmons

i'm pretty happy. realistic, but happy.

Rivals Top OL Classes:

1. Auburn - 6 players - 1 - 5-Star - 2 - 4-Star - 2 - 3-Star - 3.5 Avg - 384 Points
2. Oklahoma - 5 players - 0 - 5-Star - 4 - 4-Star - 1 - 3-Star - 3.8 Avg - 372 Points
3. Texas A&M - 5 players - 0 - 5-Star - 4 - 4-Star - 1 - 3-Star - 3.8 Avg - 364 Points
4. N.C. State - 5 players - 1 - 5-Star - 1 - 4-Star - 2 - 3-Star - 3.4 Avg - 263 Points

10. USC - 2 players - 1 - 5-Star - 1 - 4-Star - 0 4.5 Avg - 194 Points

Auburn got the edge because they signed 6 O-linemen... but Oklahoma and Texas A&M had more quality players.

I'll still take our class. This doesn't even include some HUGE "tight ends" and another "fullback" which also may play on the line. AU was desperate for tackles on both sides of the ball.

yeah, our defense was shit and we didn't do too much to improve it. my only hope is that we're young and maybe they'll play above expectations next season.

Auburn is in the same boat for this year. This class brings a lot of hope for the future, but we'll see how many have an immediate impact this year.

As least you still have Jerrod and almost every receiver coming back this year. Slip in a few new linemen to give him some time, and maybe you can out score 'em.

Because he's a "BUM"? Or because you're still not giving AU credit for him playing there for the one year?

The top three running backs in this year's class:

Auburn was hoping for 2 of the three (some wondered about a clean sweep, but never realistic). All three took visits and hard looks at AU, but in the end, only Dyer signed.

The first clips are Lache Seastrunk (OREGON), probably the fastest and most agile of the three.

The second set are of Marcus Lattimore (SOUTH CAROLINA). Came down to a signing day decision for him between AU and the Cocks. In the end, with help from Stephen Davis (former AU player, but from SC) urged him to stay at home and be the feature back at USC-east.

Michael Dyer (AUBURN) highlights start around the 4:00 mark.
