Not sure about the openers but what if I told you
that I know a place that will give you $1000 in free life insurance?

No strings.

PM me for more details.

i listen on the sirius side and thought it was weird recently that they seemed to be starting each show in the middle of a conversation.

What do you mean by openers ?

Like when they play a song or scene for a movie and then head into the " Let's get down to it boppers. " part ?

I still hear that on Sirius.

Well I'm still catching up on last week's shows but I know they had one for Monday's show.

It was a Louisiana themed song possibly by Jimmy Buffet.

If we're saying that they were dropped after that then I can't confirm or deny the fact.

I can say that Thursday and Friday's show started in the middle of a conversation on Audible.

I can say that Thursday and Friday's show started in the middle of a conversation on Audible.

It sounds cooler if you add "side". Example: I listen on the XM side, but lately I've been thinking about switching to the Audible side because of the atrocious weekend programming. After that letter I got saying that XM was raising their prices because of some bullshit music tax, I almost switched to the torrent side.

It's a bit of work, but I have it covered.

I have Sirius in the car, and XM on the PC and base unit.
At 10:59 I run out to the car to catch the opener. Since I am still at work, as soon as I hear the opener I run back into the office and waste 4 hours in the Listening Thread.

You have to stay one up on Mr. B.

10:59? You are missing the pre-show opening. Fez is genius during it.

Opie sounded pretty hot and bothered about it so hopefully he can crack some skulls upstairs and get things rectified back to how they were when I enjoyed being turned on to some interesting musical selections.

I have Sirius w/ the Best Of XM and yesterday's show opened with, ironically enough, Ron saying that if you listen on 197 you shoud hear the intro.

Not the case.

Now I'm listening to the 1 AM replay so maybe that make s adifference but all of the previous replays I've heard began w/ the music intro.

Suspect Chin
02-18-2010, 11:41 AM
I think it's pretty obvious that the intros are gone and they are trying something new.

Well if trying something new means joinging a show already in progress that's pretty stupid.

The show isn't already in progress, it is just Ron saying something stupid and acting like the show is in progress.

Didn't you find it suspicious the other day when the show just happened to start with Ron supposedly on the phone with Anthony explaining how the openers are only are Sirius?

JimBeam
02-18-2010, 12:53 PM
Actually that's the show I just started listening to when I noticed that there wasn't the intro.

I didn't pay attention to what he was actually saying but I did think it started late.

I think there was also a caller from last week, maybe just after it started happeneing, that called and said he didn't hear the opener and Ron said that you should hear it on the Sirius side.

Space Edge

ditto,

it's amazing how some listeners to a comedy show don't get comedy.

JimBeam

Shouldn't something be funny if it's meant to be implied as such on a comedy show ?

I fail to see the humor in having a fake call and telling a caller that you can hear the intro on the other side.

And I'm not devoid of humor as I laugh every time Ron makes Fez say something and then follows it w/ the fart sound.

There should also be some context if something is supposed to be sarcastic.

If the show started with the fake call with Ron talking to Opie or Anthony, before a caller mentioned not hearing the intro, I'm not sure how that's sarcastic.

Now if they took several calls in a row, from listeners on each platform, and told them all the opposite than maybe that'd be funny.

Otherwise it's D level entertainment on something I personally think is otherwise an A+ show.

[quote=JimBeam;2674477There should also be some context [/quote]
I think, the first day they did it, they did it to make people think it was a "best of". The day before had started it's first hour with a best of, and I think they just wanted to fuck with people. Now, I think they keep doing it, because people are getting so weirded out by it all.

CardiffGiant

I agree Ronnie is doing it just to fuck with people, I'm surprised people still aren't getting it. I was cracking up during the "intro" today when he was talking about the best way to take jimson weed(I can't remember if he said to do or don't boil it into a tea). haven't heard that drug mentioned in years.

OK now this sheds a little more light on the subject.

I don't get to listen every day and usually skip to the most recently recorded show when I finish the previous one so I'm sure I missed a lot.

Is the reason for the lack of an opening because they were told they couldn't do it ?

If so what was the reasoning behind that ?

A funny one last week was when Ron seemed like he was arguing about a show/station policy and then it was actually about the proper way of " passing the dutchie ".
