Film producer and director Kevin Smith was removed from a Southwest Airlines flight from Oakland to Los Angeles after crew members determined that he was too overweight and insisted he would have to purchase two seats instead of one in order to fly.

I knew he was getting pretty damn hefty from what I've seen lately, but he must be turning into a real slob.

I agree with the sentiment in this thread. While I enjoy Kevin Smith's work and think he is an interesting person to hear talk, it sucks being jammed into a seat next to someone who is overflowing into your personal space. If it was Kevin Smith next to me I probably wouldn't mind it as much just to have the story to tell, but most times it is just very uncomfortable and makes the flight nearly unbearable.

However, if there were extra seats available as he said in one of his tweets they should have just let it go and not tried to charge him double. Is it really worth the extra $$ you get for that seat to risk offending someone and making them never be a customer again as I am sure Kevin Smith won't be?

Unless they ban fat people from flying - this is a problem for everybody. I am fat and I hate to fly because of the small seats and inconveniencing the passengers around me. I can barely get the seatbelt to click - and even though I am fat my shoulders are too broad to not interfere with the people beside me.

He was on standby trying to get an earlier flight home, what a pathetic excuse for a human being, wanting to get home to his wife and kid earlier.
