Is this a "legal" rental? Was this spelled out in the lease? Check your lease. You might be able to make a compromise with her.

Maybe you should ask the Horde King.

Check the lease man. If it doesn't say anything about having guests over, then the landlady is wrong.

IT'S TIME TO PLAY THE GAME-AHHH!

Ink is a screamer?

If it's an Illegal apartment, I'm not sure how much recourse you have. Try to work out a compromise like only weekends, she may go for it.

Even though you don't want to, have a talk with her but start out with an apology and let her know you were unaware of this rule... She may soften up and you can compromise... If not, you can tell her to F off(when she's not around) and look elsewhere)Truth is she's not moving and you'll just cause yourself a bunch of un-needed stress...
On your last day you can take a dump on the rug :)

My brother did the same thing and got the same stupid response from his landlord. She can do what she wants since it is illegal but that doesn't mean you can't work it out or just find another place.

Maybe I'm wrong, but if you try to take action, she could get in trouble (fines?) but you would have to move out.

Illegal -- nada you can do but move. But other than toss you out what can she do? -- how can there be a lease for a illegal apt? -- start looking for another place.

First, say it's your sister or cousin. If she still breaks your chops, tell her you will report her to the IRS and the NYC Department Of Buildings, and the local FDNY.
She is breaking the law by renting an illegal dwelling, so she has no right to lecture you. I live in Brooklyn, illegal basement apartments are everywhere. Try to be nice first, and if not, drop the bomb!

SO, what's the rent? I've been looking for a nice basement apartment.

Spit in her face, kick any of her pets, then give her my number.

She is right on this one only on certain terms...if in the lease you said only YOU would be living there and those are the terms she leased it to you ...then she is right...if no where in the lease says that then u r rite...look it ova
