As we're on the run-up to St. Patrick's Day, I feel compelled to remind you that Paddy should never be spelled Patty. Ever.

Paddy derives from Pádraig, Patty from Patricia.

Tell the faux-Irish bars their signs are wrong. Tell the plastic patties they are wrong.

St. Paddy's spelling wsa impeccble.

I'll remind you around the 10th

actually, Padraig comes from patrick:

Patrick is a name derived from either the Latin name "Patricius" (patrician, i.e. nobleman) or from an earlier Celtic name.[1] It was Gaelicised as Pádraic or Pádraig, and owing to the importance of Saint Patrick in Irish history, it is an especially popular name in Ireland.

Paddywagon

Modern paddywagon, Lewiston, Maine.
Modern Western Australian Police Force paddywagon
NSW Police Ford Ranger paddywagon with new-style cageThe word paddywagon is of American origin. The precise origin of the term is uncertain and disputed, though its use dates back to at least the beginning of the 1900s.[1] There are at least three theories as how the phrase originated.[2]

The most prevalent theory is based on the term "Paddy" (a common Irish shortening of Patrick), which was used (sometimes as derogatory slang) to refer to Irish people.[3] Irishmen made up a large percentage of the officers of early police forces in many American cities. Thus, this theory suggests that the concentration of Irish in the police forces led to the term "paddywagon" being used to describe the vehicles driven by police.
An alternative theory is similarly based on the term "Paddy" but states that the term arose due to the number of immigrant Irish being arrested for having consumed too much alcohol and taken away in the vehicles.[4]
The final theory holds that the name originates from the padding used on the inside of police horse-drawn carriages to prevent injury;[5] this last is regarded by lexicographers as an example of folk etymology[citation needed].
A great number of Irish-Americans and persons of Irish descent consider this term to be an offensive ethnic epithet.[citation needed]

Speaking of Paddy, here is a new found treasure from Ireland that has recently started selling in the states:

http://www.barbizmag.com/images/stories/paddy_whiskey.jpg

New York, NY (December 10, 2009) – Pernod Ricard USA, the premium spirits and wine supplier in the U.S., announces the U.S. debut of Paddy Irish Whiskey, a limited release extra smooth and mellow whiskey blend that will hit the market in time for St. Patrick’s Day. (http://www.barbizmag.com/paddy-irish-whiskey-to-reach-us-shores/print)

If you like whiskey, check it out. It's gooooooooooooood.

if I have to hear another warning about this, i'm gonna lose my shit. first off, i never lose it completely. secondly, they would never stop handing out fines if they did this for every infraction. I see a minimum of 100 laws broken per year. and thirdly, try it, i dare them.

I'm sure you'll be fine, I'm just sayin', because last year's parade day was out of control and the city came thisclose to canceling it. The mayor have been very vocal this past month that a zero tolerance policy will be strictly enforced (every bar has a giant sign with this policy in its window). If there is one thing the Hoboken cops like to do, is to give tickets. Last year they made a half a million in fines, and that was with a $1000 fine.

It doesn't interfere with NYC's and other town's parades, like Jersey City and a dozen of other smaller towns. Plus the city rakes in tons of money.

Tampa is still a big scene with all the clubs, auditoriums and the Hard Rock. Orlando Miami, & Palm Beach are all pretty big too, we have the S beach festival going on now. Im not at the point where I am travelling all over yet. At this point Ive done Guest spots, open mics & mc'd at places from Daytona, Titusville, Cocoa Bch, Melbourne and Orlando. Im not getting paid in cash but a couple of the places give me free booze and I make a little on the side selling certain "merch" to out of town comics.
