On the show today, Fez said he watches The Dark Knight and basically tolerates the non-Joker scenes to get to the Joker scenes. I agree that Heath Ledger was good... really good. In fact, he pretty much carried that movie. Now that I think about it, the rest of the movie is pretty weak.

Maybe I'm unusual, but I only saw The Dark Knight once in the theater and one or two times on HBO if I caught it. Was Heath Ledger's performance really as good as I remember it? Was it really as good as Fez says?

I feel that on some level Fez wants that role to be known for more than it is because Heath Ledger made it cool to be gay in Brokeback Mountain.

No, I think Fez really just is a big Batman fanboy and that is the biggest Batman movie. Doubt it's any more than that.

No, it really was that good. And while I don't agree that the rest of the movie is weak I will say that not only was Ledger great he made anyone else he was in a scene with great. You didn't think about how silly Batman sounded or how out of place his costume was in the interrogation scene, or how bad Two Face looked in the hospital room scene, or how bad a performance that Armenian gangster guy gave when Ledger essentially mocked it and lit the money on fire.

And seeing how big a Batman fan Fez is only amplifies everything. Remember he has a Batman tat. He was always a Batman fan. And it's not like he has anything else to do. I think you are reading too much into it.

The gay cowboy things does not hurt but it is mostly because it is a Batman movie.

Movie sucked. Ledger was very good.
Fez loves the movie, because like everything else he does (radio show, watching football, wrestling, eating his planned out menu) he can drift off and think about the big problems in the world, like should he have ordered something different for breakfast the day before.

Is this the real fez or was he the guy before the breakdown/heart attack. That's the real question.

I think heath's joker in batman is the equivalent to bruce wills john mcclaine in die hard, a genre defining role which made those specific movies more tollerable than the genre is typically known to be.

I dont care what anyone says, The Dark Knight is the best comic book movie ever made. And for someone that grew up a Marvel fan and the biggest Spider-Man mark out there, that hurts to say.

Every time its on cable I wind up putting down the remote.

Speaking of which, I know its off topid but is there a reason Iron Man STILL hasnt hit cable tv yet? Its been almost 2 years since it came out.

In my opinion it is the best comic book movie, but is that really saying much? Watchmen is decent, but not great. Spiderman 1 is a fun movie, but not outstanding.

Ledger's performance and dialogue are great. The rest of the film is very average. The storyline is not as linear as it should be, and parts of the film (cell phone sonar, going to China as if it's a different movie, the school bus fiasco) are absurd.

So you are basically watching a comic book movie, but want everything you see in it to be 100% realistic and possible....is that right?

I mean, if you went by that logic, it would be impossible to have a Batmobile or a Batcave because government satellites would be able to track all of that. Sorry but when I watch a movie based on a comic book, I leave disbelief at the door and just hope that it doesnt get too absurd (the Dodge flying car in FF2 comes to mind).

Not necessarily. The batmobile and the batcave were created at times where they were not as inconcievable as they are now. I fully acknowledge that in a certain context of a comic book universe disbelief should be suspended. The bat sonar thing was such an unbelievable stretch, and furthermore it was an unnecessary stretch. It was newly introduced to Batman's world. The Dark Knight tried to be a "real film", but at the same time had to have a "low-art" appeal.

It did what mediocare action movies do, threw away the plot and turned it into a video game (see: last half of District 9).

Don't overthink it. Fez likes Batman because Batman is gay.
