View Full Version : Music that makes you uncomfortable

Very simple: What are some pieces of music that leave you feeling uncomfortable?
For examply, I've been on a Radiohead kick as of late, especially Kid A. I would say that this record makes me feel very uncomfortable when I listen to it. Kind of a feeling of paranoia comes over me. I love the record, but it just leaves me feeling uncomfortable.
Does anyone have any music that makes them feel that way?

any Pink Floyd tracks that are deeper than what is played on the radio. I had a friend in college that used to drop acid a lot but then he'd do all the cliche shit. Dark rooms, black lights, gay head shop tapestries and posters. "Listen to the music, maaaaaan". Always playing Pink Floyd. Now it always just reminds me of that.

I had a friend who used to say that if you drop acid and listen to Dark Side of the Moon it's like visiting heaven, hell, and the inmost part of the human psyche.
I tend to think it's just a real good album.

I first heard this song because of a thread started by a board member.
It was featured in the Daft Punk film Electroma. Adding in my first memory of the song being from this scene of the film definately adds to it's effect on me.

I can't really get into early, hardcore minimalism, like the early stuff of Steve Reich or Philip Glass. For example, "Four Organs" by Reich, or "Music in 12 Parts" by Glass.
Now, their later stuff I do dig: I can handle Reich from "Music for 18 Musicians" on, and Glass from "Einstein on the Beach" on, as they both started to turn away from strict minimalism, but that early stuff just grates me.

Person Arrested For Playing 'offensive' Rap Music From Car
In what could be a legal test case, 19-year-old Nathan Michael Wilkie faces a charge of offensive behaviour after police arrested him when he was listening to music by underground rapper Kid Selzy on his car stereo, the Herald Sun reports.

Really, really, really difficult to get through the whole song. Nick Hornby mentions it in Songbook. He says that if you wish to listen to the song, don't do it alone and definately not through headphones. Well, I listened to it alone through headphones and I seem to be alright, but I'm kind of left wondering where the past ten minutes of my life went.
