Listening to the radio while I cleaned the kitchen, I got mad. When critics assume the "general public" doesn't understand or want documentaries, indies, or foreign films, I get so mad. So basically, you assume that I, your reader/audience, is an idiot who just wants to see the same movie over and over. Is that really the best way to get people into the seats of a movie you think they should see, by insulting them?
Why can't they just say, there is an really great documentary playing and write the review as if it were any other movie. Not to mention, how critics assume that audiences that don't like certain movies are stupid or they "just didn't understand." No sir, I saw Crazy Heart, I understood it, but thought it was mediocre at best.
So, and this includes Paul O., Ron, and especially Eastside Dave, the next time your assume 'the masses" are too stupid to understand something or they don't want different types of movies, remember, you are the ones talking down to us and making assumptions.
