The trees on Toomer's Corner at Auburn have been fatally poisoned (http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/2011/2/16/1997905/toomers-corner-trees-poisoned-herbicide-auburn-alabama)
Someone called into Paul Finebaum's show to brag about doing it.
It's unclear why Auburn fans assume Alabama Crimson Tide fans were responsible. In a completely unrelated incident and amazing coincidence, the score of last year's Iron Bowl recently somehow appeared in the grass near Bama's statue of Bear Bryant.
what a bunch of jerkoffs they all are. I cant wait to see whats next, someone sets the bear bryant statue on fire?

Article from Andy Staples at SI.com, who has no connection to AU:
Toomer's Corner poisoning should enrage all college football fans (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/andy_staples/02/17/toomers-corner/)

They didn't "kill" the grass at UAT with an herbacide. Actually, more clever than that. They spread rye grass out to write the score, knowing it would grow, and stay green all winter while the rest of the grass around it turned brown.
A harmless prank by an alleged AU student. Hardly comparable to a criminal act of vandalism by a 62 year old deranged fan.
And the guy that killed the trees claimed it was in retaliation for Auburn fans rolling the trees after Bryant died (28 years ago!), which is not true.
Sure, some AU people celebrated after Bryant retired, but the whole state (AU fans included) were nothing but respectful after he passed. Older fraternity brothers of mine remembered people driving with their headlights on that day, and respectful remembrance articles written in the school newspaper.
This "rivalry" is really not much fun anymore, and yes, it is bound to escalate from here.
Bama travels to AU this fall, and it's liable to get ugly.

The guy they arrested is on the right. The other guy who was taking credit for the act on the "TiderInsider" message boards is the other one wearing a hat on the left.

Not sure why we would suspect these guys are bama fans.
I know way more about this guy this morning than I really care to.
Someone has already posted his address and phone number.
His two labs are named "bama" and "nicky".... etc, etc.
He has already gotten way more than his 15 minutes.
Again... just another embarrassment to the state, and to all SEC fans and schools.

I understand, and I understand that this guy is a straight psycho for what he did. Also, based on the pic of the guy, im gonna guess it had nothing to do with that score in the grass thing. Where did this guy even get that shit from though? They said its like a government restricted herbacide

It's not restricted. Anyone with the money, and who knows where to go, can obtain it.
(Brand name is Spike 80df, in case this has inspired anyone to commit copy-cat crimes)
It's basically a super "round-up" type herbacide that a lot of ranchers and farmers use along their fencelines and such to keep weeds, shrubs and trees from growing, or to kill them off.
There's the usual "Any unauthorized use is in violation of Federal Law" type of message posted on the label, which might add some charges.
Right now he's just charged with criminal mischief by the local authorities, but other charges will likely be added, and possibly more by the State and Fed.

He's a former State Trooper in Texas, so I'm assuming he's got some connections.
Yeah, someone posted his address and phone number on EDSBS, which Spencer quickly nuked and said "knock it off"

That's the scariest part. Not only do we know that these people live among us, but some of them wear badges and carry fire arms.
And people ask me why I don't have any AU crap on my car.
