God, I used to love this show when I was younger. It was on PBS and was much cooler than the other educational shows targeted at kids. Hell, look at some of the members of the cast...

Morgan Freeman, Jr.
Bill Cosby
Rita Moreno

Remember Easy Reader? Fargo North - Decoder? The Spiderman segments? Judy of the Jungle?

And the theme song kicked ass!

I remember this show from when I was little, My favorite parts were the Spider Man reading spots.
Wasn't Morgan Freeman on Sesame Street.
Also, wasn't Sesame Street much better back in the 70's, I watch it with my children now and it seems to be too much Elmo, Whatever happened to Kermit and Guy Smiley?

Raven, Morgan Freeman played Easy Reader on the Electric Company.

And yes, Sesame Street was much cooler in the '70's. It was harder edged and had more emphasis on the darker aspects of educational television. They weren't above slapping around a Muppett hooker in order to get a kid to learn their ABC's.

Plus, Muppetts were allowed to smoke on television back then.

The Electric Company was so much better than Seasame Street. It was alos the place where I was first introduced to Spiderman and comics in general.

The songs and phonics games were better as well.

Captain Kangaroo was the most celebrated graduate of my high school, Lynbrook High School on Long Island.

My faves: Dancing Bear, Mr. Moose, Mr. Green Jeans
