View Full Version : Wrestlers who cut the WORST PROMOS!
The Game
01-28-2002, 10:29 AM
I give this award to Steve Blackman. Back in '98, Terry Taylor interviewed Steve Blackman who cut one of the worst promos on Ken Shamrock.
Honorable mention: goes to The Brood's first interview.
Ouch! Was that horrible!
What do you people think is the worst promo by a wrestler?
Now can you Dig that!!!
Sucka!!!

Billy Gunn is quite bad.

The Hardy Boys, Billy Gunn, and Booker T are all horrible. Honorable mention to Ken Shamrock, who may possibly be the worst promo guy of all time.

Jeff Hardy. good thing he's psychotic in the ring, or he'd be out on his ass

What? Booker T and Storm are fine with their promos. At least they don't stutter like Gunn, or talk with hillbilly accents like the Hardys. Not everyone can be Ric Flair, y'know.
Test gives a pretty bad promo. I don't know why they let Kane talk. Big Show can only grunt, roar, or imitate Hogan. Stephanie makes me wish I was deaf.
And I'll be killed for his, but you know who else gives a rather poor promo? HHH. Yes, that's right. "It's-AAAAHHH the same-AAAAAAHHHH thing-AAAAHHHH every-AAAAHHHH time-AAAAHHHH he opens-AAAAHHHH his mouth-AAAHHHH." Do roids make you unable to talk? Is that a side effect?

you got a point, se7en, but HHH makes up for it with sheer presence and intimidation.

Thank God. How many times has Flair forgotten what he was going to stay? It happens constantly. He never thinks far enough ahead. Also, he always misses the microphone when he "whoo's". He's a sad old man.

He's a sad old man.
My God. I hope you were watching RAW tonight. If you still feel that way after the awesome promo he cut tonight, than really, I don't know what to say.
If you don't even think Flair can cut a good promo, I don't see how you could feel that ANYONE else could possibly give one.

Seven, I am so with you on this one, and I've been saying it for a long time.
HHH is just awful. I don't understand why he is so popular, and all that time that he was holding the title I felt like he was being forced down our throats. His promos absolutely suck.
And XPac is pretty bad. In fact, the only DX member who could cut a good promo after HBK left was Road Dogg...

Ahmed Johnson has to be one of the worst ever. You couldn't understand a damn thing he said. Sid Vicious also cut some pretty horrible ones.

Saturn, Crash, Billy, Blackman and TBS!
Lance Storm does a phenomenal job on the mic. He has his own way of getting over, stern yet ironically funny on the mic.

Ok, now CruelCircus is talking out his ass! HHH cuts the best promos. Your probably upset b/c you cant cut one like him.
The Rock's are very amuzing & Austin's is starting to get annoying.
Chris Benoit can't cut a promo or work the mic for that matter. I hope he's using this time to work on his mic skills.

Consider: Rock and RVD.
The Rock is popular because of the outrageous things he have said. RVD became popular while in the Alliance because of his high-flying abilities. How often do you hear RVD speak?

I'll be fair - I don't dislike HHH. I think he's pretty good - in the ring, that is. On the mike....I'm sorry, to me it's just all grunts from him. And AAAAHHHHH!!!s at the end of every word he says. "That-AAAHHH!!! Damn-AAAAHHHH!!! Good-AAAHHHH!"
I think that the dissolution of managers in the WWF has really hurt the guys who aren't good on the mike. In the old days, if you had a guy who couldn't talk, you just stuck them with a guy who could (enter Bobby Heenan!). Now, no one really has that option. If you were to take a guy like Benoit, and stick him with a mouthpiece like Bobby...his heat / popularity could be nuclear.

at the end of every word he says. "That-AAAHHH!!! Damn-AAAAHHHH!!! Good-AAAHHHH!"
You wanna talk about irritating monotony? Austin and his "What?" chant have caused me to change the channel on several occasions. It was bad enough when it was just him, then he had the entire audience doing it and now they scream it almost every time someone utters a sentence, whether the person is talking about Austin or not. Enough already.
As far as terrible promos, I gotta go with Stephanie. She always looks nervous and she says the same things over and over. It's like she knows she has to fill a minute and a half but she forgot what she was going to say. She just points a lot and does the traditional "I'm very flustered" routine. Rocky does the best promos BY FAR... quick, no stammering, to the point and almost always funny. He's off the screen before you even have a chance to get bored.

I so agree about the "What" chant. It started off kind of funny; it was part of Austin's redneck heel routine (I've been to the deep South, and people there really do say "What?" like does mid-sentence). Then it became popular with the crowd, and they chant it all the time. It's really killed the joke fast.
