I was going to attend anyway just to ogle Angelina. If a 4-star-caliber action movie happens to materialize along the way, great, and if not, I'll probably still feel like I got my money's worth.

Phillip Noyce hasn't been involved with a big, splashy production like this in over ten years. Those Harrison Ford-Jack Ryan movies he made were pretty solid. I wonder if he was attached when this was originally conceived as a vehicle for Tom Cruise. He has a history with Angelina after directing her on The Bone Collector, so maybe she endorsed him to get the gig when the project's title character underwent a gender change.

The screenplay was written by Kurt Wimmer who was responsible for Ultraviolet and Equilibrium... I was going to see it anyway just because the usual big summer movies are perpetually delayed in Japan (The Hangover will be out very very soon). I only have to wait till the 31st to see it. It's gloriously absurd. This movie has holes in it big enough to drive the whole movie through. The laws of physics seem to be suspended here the same way as in a Road Runner cartoon. Angelina Jolie runs full speed out into thin air and doesn't look down until she's in the helicopter at the end.
