Not the first time. In Russia, they are called "Black Widows," they are mostly the widows of men who died fighting the Russian wars either in the Chechen wars, or in the guerrilla fighting that followed.

The Russian Caucuses has been a very unstable place over the last 20 years, with terrorists coming out of there on a regular basis.

It could, or could not be related to the stuff in the middle east, too soon to tell, however the Islamist groups in Chechnya, Dagestan and Ingushetia are connected with the terrorist movements elsewhere in the Muslim world, with some of the fighters from those republics being caught in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

These sort of terrorist acts are not uncommon in Russia, though it's the first one in Moscow in over 8 years, I believe. Elsewhere, there have been bombings of planes, buses, schools, assassinations, etc. etc.

Anyway, shitty situation all around.
