I could sense this was coming a couple years ago when Jimmy had his ridiculous theory for what the ending would be for Lost and then said anything else wouldn't make sense or would be really stupid.

This is perfect evidence listening threads are for the retarded. When yesterday did ant or jim say they didn't like this weeks episode of lost? They complained the writing of some of the episodes have sucked, which is true, but said they liked this weeks.

You're correct, Oceanic 815 being sent to the island to build an office chair retail store does seem odd
Jimmy's theory was that they all the characters were in a mental institution and imagining everything. It wasn't really the theory that made me think but his dismissal that any other explanation would be nonsense.
And Jimmy did say that even though this week's episode was good that this last season is the biggest letdown in TV history.
Dan 'Hampton
04-08-2010, 04:55 PM
Rhetoric. The mental institute theory has been bandied about for quite awhile. The show has had it's ups and downs. This season has had two real bright spots but also some duds.

As the Worst of the Satellite Years was meant to entice Sirius listeners to subscribe after the free preview, I believe it to be a remarkable failure. Who picked these bits? I understand putting the stunty things like box of cocks and erock getting waxed. But We Are The World? It was a marginally funny bit that only long-time listeners would really understand as it was all about the character appearances. I can't imagine not knowing any history of the show and enjoying that. Also, how does Vos w/ Chaz Palminteri make the list? Is it just because of the celebrity? Same goes for the Iron Sheik pisses himself. While the end result was funny, it still only amounted to about 30 seconds of radio of them describing the pissy pants. The rest of the bit was just a rambling interview with a lunatic.

If they want to get new listeners they need to go to about a year into XM, or just pick out the best of the WNEW stuff. I actually agree with Opie that the show as a whole wasn't their best at NEW, but I do think it contained their brightest moments, especially some of the angry Norton stuff.

They really do play the countdown way to much each weekend, It's over exposure. I wouldn't blame the CEO of the company he has nothing to do with them. Remember back when they first got on Satellite Radio and they said they were going to be able to drop in and do shows any time and they were giving away "Golden Tickets" to other shows to join them on Satellite. They should have done something with their channel 5 years ago when they got it. It's not even worth turning on 202 on the weekends, the programing sucks. The O&A countdown replayed 10 times, Ron and Fez replays early in the morning. I think Opie and Anthony try their hardest to ignore what happens on the weekends on the channel. I don't see it changing either.

You'd think for the big free preview, they would have tried to fool would-be subscribers into thinking that there was some variety on the weekend. But with 5 years of satellite material, why not just replay the same bits all weekend? Idiotic. Even worse, I can just imagine this compilation will be replayed again in the near future.

Its not quite the same thing. This dumb bitch is using the fact that she fucked a governor to get into Playboy and make herself money, but won't talk about the only reason anyone even knows her name. If she was just sitting at home and not doing fucking media tours I don't think they'd beat her up.

I only listened to the 6 min clip of the "fight", but it seemed like she was answering Ant's questions about when she was a hooker. I may have missed her dodging questions earlier, but it just sounded like Opie didn't like her and wanted to make edgy radio by starting a fight like the old days. I didn't hear him say anything about not answering questions, just saying that her posing in playboy would further her career was horseshit.
Realistically, there's only one reason why they would have her on, and that is to treat her like shit. Did they really want to hear the details of her thing with Spitzer? Because I couldn't imagine being interested in that old news. And it's not like they are doing her or Playboy a favor by promoting her photos. I doubt that if she came on and told every sordid detail, that a bunch of pests were going to go out and purchase her Playboy mag. She's a boring guest and was met with a boring response. I don't even understand why they get these celebrities in for interviews. I bet this makes #1 on the weekend replay-fest.

I don't think so. When he was on Marc Maron's podcast a while back, he briefly talked about how he's always uncomfortable being on the show with other comedians. He mentioned how whenever he would try to join in on the "just one of the guys" ballbusting, someone would get upset with him. I remember one particular show where he teased Bob Kelly, and Bob got really confrontational with him and asked, "Have you ever been punched in the face, Mike?"

I might be inclined to agree with you about Hedberg.....he made a big splash and although his style of comedy had been seen before, big things were expected of his career.
The Hicks comment is way off though. Hicks was brilliant in the way he shredded pop culture, media, mediocrity, consumerism, and politics of the 80's. he was a completely new voice at a time when comedy had gone the way of soft jokes and family friendly gimmicky shtick. so many comedians wouldn't exist right now if it weren't for Hicks' influence.

i don't think that's the case. even if it was a headline ripper based on a black murderer, they'd likely make it a white criminal, but i don't see it as a liberal bias either. the majority of characters on prime time shows are white. plus, they use a lot of the type of murder that (i think) would predominately be committed by whites.
