Anyone remember The Magic Garden? Two hippie chicks in their backyard singing songs and talking to puppets? That was the best- too bad they don't air that show anymore the way The New Zoo Revue still pops up sometimes. Remember the opening song?:
Hippie Chick #1: I'm fine
Hippie Chick #2: Me too
Hippie Chicks: We're fine, and how are you?

I'm sure it's really lame to reply to your own original post... but I just thought of another great Old School kid's show- Romper Room! I don't know why, but it was so exciting to walk around on top of those click-clacks (mine were green). And I used to get creeped out that she could actually see through that mirror into the audience at home.

Then I turned 15.

Just kidding, just kidding.

As a child, I was hooked on "Captain Kangeroo". Mr Greenjeans, Mr. Moose, Bunny Rabbit and the ping pong balls. Oh yeah, and the "Dancing Bear"! LOL
I used to also love "Winchell Mahoney Time" with Paul Winchell."Scotty Watty Doo Dah"!! Also, "The Sonny Fox Show" "The Chuck McCann Show",
"The Soupy Sales Show" and "Wonderama", "Captain Jack McCarthy", Beachcomber Bill", "Officer Joe Bolton",
"The Merry Mailman" and many more. TV was my life. Sad but true.;)

Electric Company and 3-2-1 Contact were cool. On right after Sesame Street. And EC had Spiderman!

Davey and Goliath was great. Christian Propoganda from the people who gave you Gumby, which obviously was the result of one massive acid trip. Speaking of "Gumby", he must've been the best lay in the history of mankind, with Trickle and Goo right behind him. Same goes for Plastic Man and Mr. Fantastic. Mr. Fantastic must've stretched the Invisible Woman until she whistled when she walked.

Perhaps I've put too much thought into these things, in which case I humbly offer my unmentioned submission:
"Square One"
Quite possibly the coolest use of Math ever.

Dr Fad had that show on Saturday at lunchtime where kids came in and showed really bizarre inventions...
And for a long time you could get those sticky octopus things in boxes of Rice Krispies.

I wonder what happened to the children that Mr. Wizard of "Ask Mr. Wizard" always had over his house. He was constantly showing them how superior he was and how wrong they were about everything. I'm sure they have some massive complexes.

"Hello, Bobby, do you know what is keeping this water from spilling over the cup's edge?"
"Uh...photosynthesis?"
"::laughs heartily while pointing at Bobby, then wipes a tear from his eye and calms:: Bobby, did your parents have any children that lived?"

Remember when all of the 3 networks would show cartoons on Saturday morning. I was up early yesterday morning and I noticed it was all news or infomercials on all 3 network channels.

When I was a kid every channel would have cartoons on Saturday mornings. Every fall they would even do a preview show on a Friday night to show you all of the new cartoons for the season.

How did everyone forget The Great Space Coaster (no gnews is good gnews with Gary Gnew), Kids Incorperated, The Bugaloos, The Land of the Lost (I still have nightmares about the sleestacks).

Magic garden was awesome, remember there are no locks on storybox...on storybox...on storybox, and the song Sherlock the Pink squirrel would sing to the chicks "oh Carol and Paula come fluff my fur, and make me nice and clean-o"

i have a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell

Can't forget about the greatest children's show of the 90's, Pee Wee's playhouse. And for edutainment purposes there was also Beakman's World who had a new female assistant every season.

The Electric Company was great !
With those Spiderman and Letterman bits.
Hey if ya'll remember Morgan Freeman was in that show. He was Easy Reader.
Well he used to have a boat out on City Island in the Bronx ( this is before he ever did any real movie roles).
My dad was the UPS dude out there for like 25 years so he used to see him occasionally.
Well my dad got his autograph for us and we asked him to ask him to come over for dinner. He had told my dad he would, but the bastard never showed. Never heard anything more about it. But I think it scarred me as a child.

I have balls !!!
