go to

thefukerton.com

download the rodkast's very very good

also you can always download the sports junkies from the wjfk.com site, and they were a lot better before the cbs sports format but they still get in a lot of comedians you would hear on O&A like Vos (who asked to be the 5th mic), Harlan Williams, Patrice and Bill Burr

my favorite podcast is "stuff you should know"
http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/stuff-you-should-know-podcast.htm
or do a search in itunes for "Stuff you should know". they do 30 min. shows twice a week on sepecific points and get really in depth on them. good stuff. kind of dry humor, but after you get to know them they are pretty funny.

and my own podcast (sorry for the plug)
Dave and Giggles

Of the ones mentioned above, I will second Marc Maron's WTF, Smodcast, Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast and High Society.

I haven't have a chance to check out Ricky Gervais's Podcast.

And I will give a down vote on "You Look Nice Today." I realize it is incredibly popular. I find the way they try to segue on a high-note with their musical bridge incredibly annoying. But I have heard three other podcasts that adopted the "You Look Nice Today" formula, so I am possibly in the minority in this area.

My recommendations*

Mike Schmidt's "40 Year Old Boy"
Mike's a comedian currently residing in Los Angeles who grew up in the Chicago suburb to the east of mine. Does a podcast at his burlesque dancer friend Lily's house. He rants while she shrieks with psychotic laughter. Very funny.
iTunes Link (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=277138218)
RSS Link (http://mikeschmidt.libsyn.com/rss)

Maximum Fun's "Jordan, Jesse Go!"
Jordan Morris and Jesse Thorn are two semi-successful interviewers. Jordan does interviews on G4 and Jesse hosts a half-hour NPR show called "The Sound of Young America." They get together and talk about things. It is a little difficult to explain beyond that. They encourage audience participation through their message boards (novel idea). Jesse makes references to obscure San Francisco Giants players while Jordan will go on the odd tangent about video games. It is funny.
iTunes Link (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=73331298)
RSS Link (http://feeds.feedburner.com/thornmorris)

Maximum Fun's "Stop Podcasting Yourself"
Two guys from Canada do a podcast that is quite a bit similar to "Jordan, Jesse Go!" Their "Overheard" segments are really funny.
iTunes Link (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=275538947)
RSS Link (http://feeds.feedburner.com/stoppodcastingyourself)

Mustache Rangers
Two guys perform a mock old-time scifi radio show about two mustachioed astronauts traveling through space to protect the American way. If you call their voice mail, they may use your call as an "incoming message" in a future broadcast.
iTunes Link (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=211053321)
RSS Link (http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheMustacheRangers)

The Moth Podcast
A single person tells a short story on stage without notes. The speakers range from Terry Garr to Mike DeStephano to Colin Quinn. Some episodes are amazing, others not so amazing.

Hey, I currently stumbled on a superior free musical service named Bearshare. You can receive a ton of songs which come in WMA format and then convert all music to MP3. I purchased wma to MP3 (http://convert-wma-to-mp3.biz) software tool but not sure how to activate it as I'm not tech-savvy, could you please give your solution how to get it to work? Do I need some sort of license code? Thanks a lot

I discovered tonight that having an iTunes app makes a huge difference in downloads. I've had a droid app for my shows for almost a full year, but finally received my iTunes store approval last Thursday night. Last week's show completely obliterated my old record, and even some old shows suddenly had over a thousand new downloads. Even my dumb political show tripled its usual numbers.

For tech podcasts, I'd go with just about anything on the TWiT network. (http://twit.tv/) Leo Laporte, who used to host "The Screen Savers" on TechTV before it became G4 and totally went to shit, is the main host. In particular, I'd recommend Tech News Today (TNT), which Tom Merritt (formerly of CNet's Buzz Out Loud) hosts, MacBreak Weekly, This Week in Google (TWIG), and Windows Weekly. Framerate is also a pretty good show on movies and TV.

I interviewed stand up comedian Tom Rhodes for my podcast (The Inside Outcast) this weekend and he mentions Ron Bennington and the Ron&Ron Show as a major influence in his career. Tom mentions Ronny B at about the 17.00min mark.

I also submitted to the interrobang cuz it would be great to hear Ronny B interview him for Unmasked and talk about the crazy funny Ronny B from his Florida stand up/Ron&Ron days

Anybody else listening to this podcast? Apparently it blew up a few months ago in podcast land but I'm just catching on now. I've listened to a handful of the 30 or so episodes on-line and am still deciding whether I like it or (almost) love it.

The premise is a radio announcer going over the seemingly routine events of a small desert town but "normal" is filled with the doings that go on in the craniums of the less stable Alex Jones followers. The recipe is one part each of local NPR and X Files, toss in a handful of Kafka and top it off with a healthy dose of Colbert (selling the absurd with a straight face).

Here's their home page. (http://commonplacebooks.com/welcome-to-night-vale/)

Night Vale was on AV Clubs best podcasts of the year.

I wanted to listen to this Maria Bamford Nerdist and Chris Hardwick was getting on my nerves so I switched over to Maria Bamford on Mental Illness Happy Hour and I really like the format. It's more like what I wanted the Nerdist to be and what I'd like Unmast to be. Mental Health talk from a host that is sympathetic to mental health issues. In true me fashion even though I've only listened to one episode I'm going to just go around recommending it to people.

Hardwick tries WAY too hard…and we get it, you're a nerd and hate sports. Yet the @ midnight show can be good if they have some good comics on…they clearly carry or sink the show. Good comics take the lead overall, bad ones mean way too much Hardwick trying way too hard. Don't get me wrong, he can be funny, just over the top with many things and insufferable.
