Ron is right. This would be the end of exciting sports. Athletes know what they're getting into when they play the game. If someone is being really out of order, they should be sanctioned/fined/expelled/whatever, but how could you prove/disprove criminal intent with a fastball? At least in soccer, if you get a red card or something, you are suspended for a couple games.

However, if a player intentionally slices the goalies hand with his skate I think criminal charges should be considered.
