oh god yea....its TEEEEERRRRIBLE......he comes in with NOTHING. it starts off a bit awkward cause the first thing George does when he got on the floor was go to take a dump....so he comes in the studio and opie wants to talk about how his poop was. George doesn't know that they're on air at all......then they tell they're on and he perks up a little bit, but ultimately stays really uncomfortable with the questions.

he came in cause he wrote this book about beer drinking so naturally jimmy was asking questions about it and George was just real uncomfortable through the whole thing. They did the bit where they pretend to be on a commercial break. apparently georgey boy went out last night and was beat this mornin.

yea, but there was a sadness about it that jimmy points out after he leaves. he seemed real nervous to even say how many drinks he had and how long he was out for......he made it weird and it really didn't have to be. part of it was jimmy approaching it as a sober addict whereas George has been to rehab, but still drinks. jimmy was trying to ask about that situation and there was just a severe level of discomfort.

so then just stop listening if you hate it so much. they're talking about things that are relevant to the show.....stp said they wouldn't do O&A but they'd do some other rock show with poor ratings.....i'd be pissed too. i didn't hear them whinning about stp doing stern.....as i recall jimmy said, "ok yea, fine....you wanna do stern cause he's a big name and thats the relationship you have, then fine....i get it.....but don't act like you can't do our show cause you're not going to be around when in reality you're sticking around to do a rock show on sirius with bad ratings as opposed to doing our show that has the ratings"

i'll agree with that.....norton did seem to really want to get to some root issue of why he drinks and it made George uncomfortable. talking about his weight didn't help at all. i think they were under-prepared for the interview....but Wendt really did give them nothing to go on.....the guy wrote a book about beer drinking and didn't have one good drinking story to tell. to be honest after hearing it again, i really think George was still hammered from the night before.

I Love their show, I shouldn't have to defend my fandom and won't. I don't complain about them all the time. I bitch because it's funny when they wonder why they don't get guests is because they A) Either they don't prepare for interviews or B) They treat certain guests like shit and then their publicists hear about it and then spread the word to other publicists and guests. It's also tiring hearing one half of the show constantly bitching about the company, Howard Stern, equipment not working etc. They wonder why when they are out the door everyday at 10:26 on the dot, Don't prep for thier show and complain about every little thing when all they could do is just make do with what they have, Just like R&F do. I'd rather hear them do radio with what they have instead of going on tirades every day.

i enjoy the triads.....i like hearing people bitch about things with some passion when they're annoyed.....maybe thats because i like to bitch about things that annoy the shit out of me too, even if it is the same shit. i guess i relate to it. and on top of that i guess i defend it, because people hear me bitch about things and they say, "god, he's so angry".....when in reality, i'm not that angry about it.....i feel like bitching on some level is a release so i won't be angry about it......basically if i can properly express why something annoys me, than it doesn't annoy me that much anymore.....i think opie is the same way, so i'll defend that.

That's what I was getting at with my comment yesterday, It's Opie who kinda brings it down. Jimmy's false outrage about dumb things is funny because he gets worked up over dumb shit. sorry if this has been hashed over a bunch of times, but I caught yesterday's interview on the replay and it was really uncomfortable and not in a funny way. jimmy kept pushing him with questions that basically were asking about how his life was in the gutter and he was broke, like "what was it like when you realized that the cheers money was running out?" what kind of interviewing is this? maybe its an interesting route to try to go down but it was obviously a dead end and jimmy seemed kind of oblivious. was ant not in studio yesterday? i think this past week and a half has shown that the show works a LOT better when EVERYONE is there. when some of the hosts try to cover for what the other person usually does, it's transparent that they're trying too hard and shit.

That is by far the strongest part of their show. The stunts, the celebrities, the pornstars, etc is usually unlistenable pap. Why would they even book someone like George Wendt, then bitch that he wasn't a good interview? It's your fucking interview that you approved. They don't even need to have the countdown. That's the frustrating part, it was fine in the past with a replay of whole shows from the week. The way it sounds now, it seems like Opie didn't want the countdown, couldn't get his way, so he threw his hands up in the air and said fuck it, I won't touch it. So we end up with this horseshit 4 time replay.

I saw that video last week. I am a fervent supporter of law enforcement, but there is nothing that I can think of that would have justified the officer's comments and actions. I'd be surprised if he retains his job. Although a short video clip never tells the whole story, at face value, that officer doesn't deserve to wear the uniform.

Ant basically said the American History X speech about we give cops certain rights or leeway or some bullshit and sometimes stuff like this happens. Which is a ludicrous argument of course, but what was interesting was this time he really didn't sound committed. He almost sounded like he was obligated to stick up for the cops but totally knew he didn't have a leg to stand on. It was more embarrassing than normal.

Like I said, I defend Law Enforcement most of the time, but not every time, because every cop is not fit for duty. There are cases where an officer makes an understandable, human mistake, and could benefit from some administrative intervention. This case, where the officer says something like "I'm going to beat the mexican piss out of you, holmes" does so much damage to: a)the person he is addressing, b)his department, c)law enforcement in general, and d)the community on all levels. An officer who behaves like this needs some serious discipline, and in today's climate, will likely be terminated.

And as far as the show goes, Ant clearly is too worried about his precious get out of jail free PBA cards to express when things are fucked up from time to time.

The funny thing is that the majority of law enforcement will watch that video and despise that officer for what he did. I doubt any decent cops would be angry at Ant for criticizing the incident.

I never heard of it before listening to O&A. Out here, I know that it doesn't exist (but business cards are good to have).

I've heard Anthony talk about these cards as if they're Get Out of Jail Free cards, but I find that impossible to believe. Yeah, I can see them maybe getting you out of a situation where the cop does have some discretion (i.e. not giving you a ticket for going 80 in a 70 MPH zone, for example), but Anthony makes it sound like he could have a dead hooker in the back seat and a bloody knife on the seat next to him, and the PBA card would get him out of that.

Around here, there are these license plates you can get (for an additional $50) that give a donation to the Police Officers Memorial Fund, which helps out families of cops killed in the line of duty. They're similarly rumored to give you immunity to being pulled over, but I've seen so many cars with that license plate pulled over. Maybe people who have them think that because they have that plate, it's fine to go ahead and crank it up to 90 MPH.

They can get you out of run-of-the-mill speeding tickets. The card usually has the issuing officer's name on it. The arresting officer will usually ask how you know the issuing officer on the card. In Anthony's case, I'm sure he also uses the "do you know who I am?" or "do you listen to the radio?" line,

This is more of a random thought but it relates to Anthony.

I find the Mustang to be an incredibly feminine car, not just the new era ones either. Although atleast the 60s and 70s mustangs seem like 'heres a girl I'm having sex with' the 2000s Mustangs seem like 'I'm wearing a dress.' I almost only ever see women driving new mustangs.

This is the first time in a long time I have enjoyed the O&A show. I had no idea Dave eats out of the Sirius trash bins.

I have one, my husbands friend is a NYC cop and gave him one.

I have never used it, I always would feel too uncomfortable to hand it over with my license. It's like saying HEY I DON'T GET A TICKET RIGHT? I'm always worried they will be like "REALLY?" and hand it back and give me an even worse ticket.

Also, I never know if a NYC PBA card will be frowned upon in say, Long Island or Westchester. Are there cop rivalries based on where they work.

To sum it up, I'd feel like a total jerkface handing that card over with my license.

A card with the officer's signature and badge number, and it's a family member... that might work to get out of minor offenses. But it doesn't always work.

Same here. I had one when I was in my late teens, early 20's... and used it a few times, and it worked.

Now, I'd feel like an ass, especially if I KNEW I was doing something wrong. I don't have one anymore anyway.

This is a huge stretch. After he half assed the speach they all agreed the cop was to blame especially when they played the cop crying to his Hispanic boss. I was expecting insane pro police on this based on this thread and it just wasn't there.

Don't hand the card over with your license, it is taken as being arrogant and will most likely not work. Like anything else it depends on the officer that pulls you over. I work with guys that write over them every day. Me, I could care less. I have 25 years to issue summonses, if you have a card, or your not a dick, I'll usually give you a break. Its when we get the bullshit excuses, or the shitty attitudes that people usually get a summons. PBA cards only work for traffic violations. I've had people give them to me during an arrest for domestic violence, or other crimes and we laugh at them. Don't be afraid to use one if you have it. Just give the officer your paperwork, then give him the card.
