Honestly, I'm so tired of the conspiracy shows.
Don't worry, you won't have to put with it for long. I'm sure NBC will plug it to the point of driving everyone absolutely insane, then when the first three episodes lose in the ratings to "Dancing With the Stars" it'll get cancelled. How do I know this? Because I'm interested in the show after seeing the trailer.

I watched. The flashbacks got a little tiresome, but I do understand that they need to explain characters/plots. Overall I liked it...until the end. I didn't want to watch some supernatural show. So I was a little bummed at that ending.
Having said that, I will watch again next week.

i thought it was good. i wasn't expecting the
vortex zapping the plane awayending, though the stupid review in the NY Post today revealed (with a 'spolier alert' right before the spoiler, where my eyes were reading and could already see the damn spoiler, instead at the beginning of the article where i could've just skipped the whole article) that THE EVENT is probably
an alien invasion, so i guess that's who the "they" in "they saved us" was.
i'll be watching next week....

They have advertised the shit out of this show! At first I was going to watch this but shows like this always seem to get cancelled after 4 or 5 episodes right before they get to the twist or before they let you know what truly is going on. After being fucked over before on shows like The nine, six degrees, reunion, windfall, persons unknown etc I have decided to not watch these types of show til I know they make it. Once I know it has aired all the shows I will watch them on someones DVR or buy/rent the dvds!

It took 40 minutes before I got into the show, the constant flashes back and forth was kind of annoying, but the plane aiming at El Presidente and the whole cruise thing has me wanting to know whats going on.

I'm avoiding this like a plague.
1. I'm not convinced it's a good show.
2. I'm going to get hooked if I watch it.
3. Ergo, I must not watch it and save 40-60 hours of my life for something better.

They dubbed it as Lost and 24s Baby..
So is Jack Baur in a plane crash then spends 6 years trying to find Sahid in 6 confusing ass days, then we find out they both died or are in purgatory or whatever the fuck happened?
GET ME JACK BAUER!
NO I DON'T WANT TO DO IT!

The Event gets pulverized by The Situation
The Event may be our most anticipated new TV series, but not enough viewers agreed with us. The show's debut pulled in a respectable — but not stellar — 11.13 million viewers, according to Nielsen's admittedly entrail-based numbers. The Event came in third place, behind The Situation's debut on Dancing With The Stars (20.99 million viewers) and the return of Two And A Half Men (14.49 million viewers). The Event will have to hold on to a lot of those 11 million viewers in the next few weeks, to avoid being an early casualty.
Also, the return of Chuck posted a not-that-great 6 million viewers. The big winner, for genre fans, was Nathan Fillion's Castle, which got superb ratings thanks to its Dancing lead-in.
Not good news, considering NBC has a quick trigger finger when it comes to canceling shows.

Anyone gonna watch tonight? They say we get "answers". I doubt it. We won't get answers until season 3 at best.
I liked the first episode, but you really had to suspend disbelief. A guy drives an SUV onto an active runway and shadows a jumbo jet taking off? Then sits on the runway and talks on the phone? And police aren't riddling his car with bullets? This is a post-9/11 world ya know. And how'd John Ritter's boy sneak onto a passenger plane? That has to be the most I-don't-give-a-fuck ass-backwards airport in America.
And don't get me started about the cruise ship.
Of course, afore mentioned plane disappears in a vortex, so there's suspended disbelief for ya. What do I know?
Yes, I will be watching. I'm an ass.

So we learned some good stuff last night, and I think the most important is the genetic markers of the "prisoners". I think they said they're only about 1% different than us, with some minor differences, like they age slower.
So my theory: they're human, but from the future. Time travelers. It seems they arrived prepared, in clothes of the era, however the initial crash in the Alaskan mountains wasn't supposed to happen. Some unforeseen event in the future causes them to travel back in time to survive, but they're are some left behind monitoring events and changing them where need be, as in saving the President from that plane crash. However, I'm not sure about why all the passengers had to die anyway (shades of Flight 93 conspiracies).
Perhaps Sean is the anomaly in this, by running away he becomes a bigger, and necessary part of the future's plan.

just watched the 2nd episode.....its ok so far......i am really sick of seeing the whole, i'm a cop, i don't give a shit, eye rolling flippant attitude....its like watching a real life Officer Barbrady work. its frustrating cause you feel for the main guy.....being in a situation that you know your innocent and no one will even listen to you......makes the whole cop thing worse.....if he really was a murderer why would he try to report a missing person? well logically she must not exist right? thats a sensible thought progression. stupid tv show cops.
i dunno.....i guess i'm in for now.....though i don't see this going too far.....much like FlashFoward, the sci-fi/special agent drama aside from Fringe (which was close to the buzzsaw itself at one point early on) really hasn't worked as of late.

I'm not sure what your last sentence meant. I think Lost lovers dumbed down seralized programming by alleviating the writers from having the responsibility of presenting coherent storylines by over-explaining and analyzing every scene. And excusing idiotic plot points that were clearly there simply to pro-long the story, by saying they existed as pieces of a complex puzzle.

I thought that was retarded too, why not just take the easier, more conceivable explanation of re-routing the call rather than kill 10+ agents? This is Lost all over again, overly complicated plots for no apparent reason.
I kind of liked that Sean kept getting caught by the FBI. It just seems more realistic. How long can someone in his position really run?

Yeah, I'm getting the feeling this show's going to have to start pulling some of that bullshit to last much longer. 3 shows in, and it really does feel like they could have everything wrapped up in another 4 or 5 episodes. That's what I was talking about earlier in the thread. Now they have to spare the mystery because to many viewers are now to impatient to wait for reveals. They need answers now or they start bitching.

I thought it was silly how the cop..who was suspicious of the woman in the van - didnt see her hands - and didnt have his weapon drawn. Isnt that like Police procedure 101?
Same with the reunion with the turncoat and his woman. Knowing how valuable this man is, and that enemies would go to any length to shut him up, you woulndt allow a face to face reunion (youd show her through glass or monitor) and youd check her for weapons.
ridiculous.
I dont recall ...how did shawn know to be on the plane in the first place? He is shown on the plane, trying to talk down his father in law pilot. But the flashbacks dont explain how he knew that his FIL was going to try and fly a plane into the president

btw: both of those military dudes were pussies and not realistic. The Colonel knew what releasing Thomas and his people on the world would reap. Wouldnt he be willing to give up his wife and daughter to prevent that??
