Ron's openings sound alot like tony kornheiser's comercial breaks for PTI. Ron says he likes PTI. The delivery- like you're talking to someone off mic- just sounds more and more like Kornheiser.

The points of the bits are kind of opposite though - one is to make you think that you were left out of a conversation (the beginning of the show), the other is to make you think that you're being let in on a conversation that you are not supposed to be part of.

Parallel writing? I think he was just tired of the same old shit and threw something different into the mix.
Kornheiser is the last person I would think it got copied from. Chevy did something similiar before his Weekend Update segments on SNL.
