This was an annoying fad a couple years ago, but I think it's dying down. I only occasionally see the asshole walking around with it, not using it. A lot less than before.

I do not like holding the phone to my ear anymore....ill cut calls short just because I'm lazy now.
.... mostly when driving, your right. Take it out of your ear, give yourself a break and participate in life.
...as for truckers, sometimes they forget, and once they are away from their truck.....don't want to lose it.

I use one if I'm making a particularly long phone call in my room. Most of the calls I make are no longer than a minute long. If I'm going to have a conversation over 5 minutes long, I can't STAND to hold a damn phone up to my ear. But I never wear one in public unless I'm driving.

I certainly don't need one.

Yeah I do the same exact thing, People look like assholes walking around with a Bluetooth in their ear when they aren't on the phone.

Most smartphones get really damn uncomfortable to hold up to your ear on conversations of any length. I know my iPhone does; it's just this little brick of aluminum and glass that's a little awkward to hold up to your ear, and kind of uncomfortably mashes your earlobe down and presses into your cheekbone I haven't really made calls on any other smartphone, but they don't look any more comfortable; they all seem to follow that same general form factor as well.

So on those, a good Bluetooth headset is pretty much a necessity. But I fully agree that actually wearing one all the time does make you look like a real douche. So just put it on before you make a call, or when you receive one, and take it off and put it back in your pocket when you're done. You're not getting so many vital calls you must answer immediately to wear one all the time. I'm sure your buddy calling you to see if you managed to score some weed can wait a few seconds for you to put on your headset.

You can listen to music and XM through Bluetooth and smartphones. So maybe some people have them on for a reason.

I don't have one, but that would be the only reason I'd get one.

I was talking about the one ear, ear piece that just looks stupid but I do have a Stereo Bluetooth headset I use to listen to music and XM when I'm riding my bike or running.

That image especially is the one that drives me nuts. Do you REALLY need to have that stupid thing stuck to the side of your head while you're eating a meal, particularly in the presence of a lady?

I think it has a lot to do with people's obsession with toys and gadgets.

I can't tell you how many times someone was walking by and said "Hi, how are you?" and I answered them...just to find out they were talking with a bluetooth! So annoying!

Oh yeah, a real stereo Bluetooth headset fucking rules. Wires are for fags.
