View Full Version : Is anyone smarter than BP to stop the Oil leak?
Sinestro

C'mon people, there must be some ideas out there that BP hasn't thought of to stop the oil leak or prevent the oil from spreading. No idea is too stupid, heck they thought throwing mud and a whole globe of gukk would stop it. Let's help them out.
I read in the other post someone mentioned using Shamwow.
I threw out the idea of torpedoing that sucker and let it implode on itself. Why not put our submarines to good use. Heck how bout depth charges.
Anyone know if the hair idea is working to separate the oil from the water or Kevin Costner's invention?
Are you smarter than the BP think-tank?

Doesn't oil and water seperate naturaly, as they don't mix ? Why didn't the pot over the hole and using the tanker as a septic system not work ?
...maybe we should of been drilling on land, might be safer.
Why were we caping such a productive well, and not adding to our supply causing fuel prices to drop ?
....do you need to cap it to pump it ? I forget.

their next plan will take 4-7 days to impement:
Efforts will now focus on severing the damaged riser pipes that lay crumpled on the ocean floor, then installing a containment device that could capture the leaking oil and syphon it to the surface. (http://www.todayonline.com/World/EDC100531-0000032/Top-kill-fails-to-stop-US-leak)

How do you equate BP with "we" as though it is some extension of the public and has our interests in mind? Why would they (not we) ever lower the prices if they don't have to?

I believe that if the Navy were to fire multiple torpedoes simultaneously around (not at) the drill tube site, the shock might compress the ground around it and crush the tube shut.
Or how about a submersible that is slightly smaller in diameter than the tube, but that has self tapping ridges that are same diameter as the tube and can be driven remotely into the opening of the tube and then spun rapidly so that the ridges digs into the walls of the tube and seal it shut like an inside out soda bottle cap?

There are a number of videos on youtube with people proposing ideas, and the reactions to these videos by everyone who sees them makes the impression that the general consensus is that none of us are qualified to propose anything, and that BP and these companies have highly trained and professional problem solvers on staff and that a laymans proposal is laughable. Meanwhile, they obviously have no real effective ideas, and seem content to let this thing vent until the can drill a new well in July and hope to plug it from the bottom and such out whatever oil is left.
They should refine that oil and give it for free to all the poor fishermen and shoremen whose livelihood is now devastated in the form of free gas and home fuel for life.

It's easier to get to space than it is to get a mile underwater.
This hole will never be sealed and will leak until the reservoir of oil runs out, about 7 years from now.
