Got a job offer in DC. Anyone got opinions on living there. (Fez didn't seem to be a fan.)

Didn't live in DC but in Northern Virgina (Sterling - out by Dullus) for a year. It was okay but rush hour traffic was horrible. Lived about ten miles from my wife's office and it took an hour to get there.

Been back in Alexandria Virginia for three months. I feel like I'm in a nightmare and I can't wake up. Fez lost his mind in northern Virginia, and I'm going to have a nervous breakdown here too. I guess it depends on from where you would be moving. If you live in Iraq or Haiti, then the DC area is better than where you are now.

I live in Olney MD. It is about 15 miles North of DC. Nice and quiet out here, and it doesn't feel like it is close to DC at all.

Worst tourism ad ever.

Like others said, the commute is terrible. But there's lots of cool stuff to do.

If you base any life decisions on Fez Whatley of the last recent decade than you might have other things to consider.
But having said that the traffic is horrendous.
You won't live in DC you'll live in northern VA most likely so cost of living will be high.
Other than that things are okay. It's not great like Manhattan as they often compare shit to, but let's be honest nothing else in the country is.

Where do you live now? There's plenty to do there, diverse groups of people. Traffic BLOWS, so live near a metro if you can.

I'd need more details before I can offer you advice. What's the job? Where's it located?

This place mainly sucks for traffic, idiot drivers and shitty food.

I've always lived in big cities, including NYC.

The job is withing the beltway but just outside DC. It is right next to a metro stop.

In that case, what are you waiting for? Take it!

That wasn't a shooting. It was just a simple case of a 16 year old getting the shit kicked out of him by about 15 people. Come on! They just wanted his Jordans. Sheesh!

Alexandria is the place to go if you like diversity. I complain about this place a lot. but it's great for people watching. Just the outfits alone are fun, tons of burkas, lots of dashikis and large African hats. Right down the road there is the Modesty Boutique, which can take care of all your burka needs.
It's not all fun and games though. Every night it sounds like a war zone with the emergency sirens all day and night. The food is horrible. The traffic is ridiculous. It takes me an hour and a half to get to my yoga studio that is ten miles away. There are a few nice people, but most people are angry and pissed off that they live in such a loud depressing place. The roads are outlined with a trash border.
