I'm a fan of Special Delivery with Sam and Dave and it's a shame that they're relegated to a Saturday night spot - I think those guys have what it takes to thrive during the week in their own daily slot.

I've started an email campaign to bring attention to the show and take a very remote shot at getting them on during the week. If you'd like to help, please email Jeremy.Coleman@siriusxm.com and let him know how much you value Special Delivery and that you'd like to hear them during the week.

I've never listened to anything by Dave other than his work on R&F which for the most part I loved.

With that said where during the week would they play a Special Delivery show ?

I doubt they'd cut any O&A or R&F replays so where would the open spot be ?

I would Love to hear SD daily. But Dave would still have to commute. Would they give him more money if they had a show? Just asking. I'm really behind this idea.

Caseyelan

As talent, I would think so. A daily show would have to pay a bit more and I don't think they are just limited to putting them on 202!

I wonder if Sam is up to having 3 radio shows! I'll give it a shot!

I always thought O&A in the mornings, with S&D middays, and R&F in afternoon drive would be a killer lineup.

But seriously, find anywhere on the platform to play them and I'll listen everyday.

I honestly don't care what channel they're on as long as I'm a subscriber. I'm fully capable of switching the channel. Obviously there are ties to 202, but I think any listener would agree that they go beyond them with nearly every topic.

If they want to show some balls, switch up the entire schedule:

Opie and Anthony 7AM-11AM (4 hours)
Special Delivery 11AM-3PM (4 hours)
Ron and Fez 3PM-7PM (4 hours)
O&A Replay 7PM-11PM (4 hours)
R&F Replay 11PM-3AM (4 hours)
S&D Replay 3AM-7AM (4 hours)

This keeps O&A in their morning slot, gives R&F a better part of the day, adds new live programming to the schedule - and replays don't have to be hodgepodged and hacked apart to fit anything.

BradWI

That schedule would never work. Everyone knows O&A need to be on during morning and afternoon drive, on both coasts. S&D should aim for another channel to get this to work.

That schedule would never work. Everyone knows O&A need to be on during morning and afternoon drive, on both coasts. S&D should aim for another channel to get this to work.

The schedule I outlined puts them in East coast mornings and West coast afternoon drive. As it is, Ron and Fez barely have a replay. If they're ever serious about turning The Virus into something more than Opie and Anthony they need to retool the schedule. Replaying the show over and over is tedious and has made a lot of people flip to something else - and Sirius should hope it's another satellite channel - but sadly, they don't offer much else in the way of humorous talk radio. So a lot of the people who feel the way I do about this turn to podcasts.

202 has such potential, but they never seem to realize it because no one ever gets beyond the false notion of O&A needing 4 timeslots. If people miss the show, they have a replay. If they miss that there's always audible. I'd bet a lot of listeners aren't as diligent in their listening these days because they know they can turn on 202 at any time of the day and listen to that day's show. It seems like a convenience, but it is turning people off. Too much exposure and saturation in an already captive audience. Perhaps there would be more heat if they had to be scheduled into people's lives. More excitement, more of a desire to get caught up. Instead, their fans are forcefed stuff they've already heard twice.

I'm pretty aware that this schedule isn't going to be adopted, but something needs to be done.

I think Opie was saying on the show that Sirius was paying him as a producer and not on air talent. On S&D he would be a host, not a producer so maybe that's worth something extra to them.. if for nothing else than to keep them from going elsewhere.

Don't forget professional. Now is not the time to use humor or make an inside reference to the show. The goal here is to send the most credible e-mail possible. IMO, if you send via an e-mail address that is your name rather than a nickname/username, that will help your credibility as a serious patron of their service with an income they should be desirous for. Absolutely. I think they're aware of their skill, but we need to make them aware of just how much they're valued. Our opinions will be heard and trusted if they're sincere and coming from a real person.

I honestly never thought they'd go so long without killing this replay all day mode and having actual on-air talent/live shows up until at least 12 am. Replay from there, but in the least give us a new late-night/evening show live. To be honest, I loved O&A best in drive home slot and R&F in the evenings. Those times bring out the best in both hosts and listeners in my mind, so why not be original and back a fully loaded talk station and stop pussy footing around this whole channel in a bs way. You'll never know it's fully potential until you man the fucking wheel versus the bullshit they've pushed on us for years now. I actually feel ripped off in that capacity.

Case and point me....I tune in to both political and sports talk radio during pretty much all the replay slots if I'm doing work at the comp or just hanging around with the radio on. I like live convos and discussions that if I feel the urge I can call and add or subtract from. I hardly ever use spoon as my name though. That's the exact sentiment of what I've put into my emails to them.

Most of us got in the habit of tuning in to WNEW and... "Rippin' the Knob Off, Maaaan!".

How many of us sat through Eddie Trunk and ended up digging his show just because the station was already on? Hell, I even stayed tuned to that gay Loveline show after R&F went off.

Adding SD to the lineup means more crossover and promotion to their current shows, and more live, original programming means more people listening longer.

There's no reason not to have live programing from morning drive through evenings.

This is the only XL station they've got. (That I know of. I don't flip around much)

This is what is unique about satellite radio. This is shit you can't get from terrestrial. This is a reason to fucking PAY for radio.

It's what the company should be investing in, and promoting. It's what will bring in new subscribers.

If Sam's doing a show fulltime I'm pretty sure he wouldn't stay on as a producer on O&A, but with this schedule, he could since his show would be after O&A.. but that would be an insanely long day.

I'm not agreeing to dj's schedule, just the need for the addition/trial of new LIVE shows. Who man them always make for fodder for all the old shows, and of course new blood overall. I hated Don and Mike, but the fights were awesome. I didn't really like Farrel (sp?), but his whacked persona (fake?) added a ton of material to the other shows again.

No matter what, it's EASILY better than listening to the same old ass clowns AGAIN on replay playing lazy radio poison games like search search hurry up and search or the countdowns that only make the repeats more often. Sorry, the virus needs some new blood and definitely some late night slots.

I do however think BOTH sam and dave need straight men and don't necessarily blend all that well. I like both in their own worlds, but together I've never been a big fan. Hate to say it, but it's just my opinion. Regardless of opinion on pairings and show lineups, the channel needs the infusion of youth/new blood/new shows.

Great thread. I'm in!!! S and D every day. That, and move the R and F replay up.
Enough with the fuckin' O and A replays. It's time Serius recognize the REAL 202 talent.

No problem. I have to get the feel of the station to when they break away from music to go to news and traffic. I tried to get the station on the Bose. To weak of signal. Going to have to listen online. :bye:

So what's this new gig? I haven't listened to the latest special delivery yet...

He started this morning. He does local news for the Central &South Jersey. I heard him do news twice. He was on for about 3-4 minutes eash time. He had a short conversation with the DJ. I heard him do the news twice. I had to run at for about an hour. I'm not sure if he did it again while I was out. He sounded so, um, prefessional. I'm sure once he gets comfortable he may talk more. It has to be tough to go from XM to terrestial. I'll be listening again for the rest of the week.
