View Full Version : Would you cancel?

I recently bought a couple of low-end laptops. A Dell Netbook and an Inspiron.
I got my Netbook, and it's great, but I got screwed because Walmart is now offering the same model for 50 bucks cheaper.
That said, Dell is delaying the other laptop for 2+ weeks because they don't have parts in.
I got a really good deal on this laptop and I've yet to see it at a cheaper price (400 bucks)...
A lot of people are telling me to cancel and get something else, but I've never had a problem with dell computers.
Would you cancel and look for something else, or deal with the delay because it's a good price?

Riddle me this: How is this an example of you getting screwed? Or is it just an example of you bitching about price after the fact?

excuse me, but I fail to see the point of why you needed to mention the netbook stuff at all? It seems your problem is solely that you dont wanna wait 2 weeks for the laptop even though its the best price.
What fuckin difference did ANY of that netbook shit make? Were we just supposed to feel bad for you for losing out on 50 bucks? Was this like some SAT question where you just put in meaningless shit to fool us? I dont get it

The point was this, that perhaps I didn't explain in the original post:
The netbook I bought I got burned on for 50 bucks, so I had a tinge of buyer's remorse, although it's stupid to go through the bullshit of trying to return the netbook to Dell to get the best price.
So I was already wrestling with buyer's remorse, and now I'm wondering if I stick with this laptop, if a better deal will come up in the window and then I'll really be annoyed.

I don't even know if I'm gonna LIKE this laptop. It's apparently super-thin, I've never dealt with that before. It may sound weird, I like my laptops to have some size to them.
One of the reasons why I got it was it doesn't pick up fingerprints as much as other dell laptops that use a glossy plastic.

I don't understand how something becoming cheaper after you've bought it leads to buyer's remorse or getting "burned". That's what electronics does, it goes down in price so that the newer items can be priced higher. Were you supposed to be psychic and know when the thing was going to drop in price?

If this is the case, I've been burned on every piece of electronics I've ever purchased.
The worst though is when a far superior new model of something comes out shortly after you make the purchase.

I know things drop in price. I'm well aware of that.

I basically had the same thing happen to me, just a longer time period between purchase and price drop.
I got my Acer netbook for like $260, complete with taxes and shipping, from Walmart online. It's the 8.9" screen.
About a month later I see why I got it so cheap. The new 10" screens were out and around the same price at the time. I saw it in the store, it's not a HUGE screen difference but at that size an extra 1" is a difference I'd have been willing to upgrade to.

agreed
i check out the ces/cnet and other elect sites specific to the products I'm on the market for just in case...especially if it's more toward the top of the line
I just bought a full speaker package (7.1 setup), and sites like the two I mentioned above along with sumiko and stereophile to mention a few. I know speakers don't change quite so often, but when buying lines like Sonus Faber/Vienna Acoustics and Rel subs these sites truly give great reviews, comparisons and updates.
Pricing is usually easy to update when looking at sites like Amazon and price comparison sites as well can be effective.

At the time, this was the lowest price. Best Buy was selling for 330 (and still is) and Amazon was around 300. I got it for 274, free shipping.

Then you did ur homework and u should be fine with it. Not to mention we're talking pretty low level pieces and very low prices. You only stand to get hit for minimal money at this point even if you did f it up. When you're looking at full setups and 2-4k type pieces the money can add up quickly. I know you just had a kid and all so money is a whole new game, but this should hardly figure in one way or another. You're fine either way, just make the call.

Honestly, if it was anything else but a computer, I would have returned it. But I already dumped a shitload of stuff onto the netbook which I would have to offload again, and to me, it's a security issue.
