Anyone have a favorite band/song that has played on R&F-- whether as an intro, before an interview, or elsewhere? I remember listening (probably a year ago) and a band played that Ron described as a Johnny Cash-style country band. Been regretting ever since then that I didn't jot down their name. They had some soul to them...

I'm getting more into 'The Band' now. After hearing the song 'Chest Fever' I got the first lp that it's from last night.

Rocketship (I think) who did High Holiday on the Christmas show. They are completely ungoogle-able due to space exploration and Jewish religious festivals.
Airsick.
A great holiday band.

Any time Ronnie sings along with 'The Spirit of Radio' it's like I'm hearing it again for the first time!

not into much of what they've played at all
usually the automatons just act like they've loved whatever Ron says is good too, but my bet is they don't give two fucks about them until he says so

Just because bands that came out when I was in high school, are now in the R&R Hall of Fame, doesn't mean I'm old.

They should ask Fez what songs he likes/knows. Rather than ones he does not.

Same here. I've been familiar with the Last Waltz since I was a kid, but I didn't bother digging any deeper into their catalog until I heard Ron rave about them. I'm glad I did, their first two albums are MUCH better than the Last Waltz if you ask me.

Ditto. For years, I always thought "Chest Fever" was a Traffic song.
The first 2 are considered their best albums but there are some great tracks off of "Northern Lights – Southern Cross".

I'll never hear one of my favourite bands on RnF because people have heard of my favourite bands.

for shame, you need to be more immune to mass appeal

I thought the same. When I found out I had to get it.

ronnie b = hipster of bad classic rock.
i find it quite ironic when ron quotes a deep-track lyric from some shitty, obscure band and then mocks fez for not getting the reference.

You don't hear the sarcastic undertones when he does that? He always makes me laugh with that shit.

37 is always right one of the greatest posters here......If it is not main stream its the greatest...But I listen every day And love R&F.....But it reminds me of kids from in my younger days if it is not on the radio its genius:bye: .........

A couple years ago they played my entry for the original x-mas songs bit.
I'm pretty sure that is the greatest song they have ever played.
Yeah, I'm looking at you Sleeves.

Then just think of Ron & Fez as the counterpart to O&A's "If it was on the radio in the 90s or 70's, it's great! Any thing else is for too-cool-for-the-room hipsters."

Still looking for that band. They did an in-studio interview and performed a few songs. Nice, old school acoustic country. Somehow this mission only comes to mind after a few drinks....

You've misunderstood. If it is on the radio, then it is probably not genius.
