What the hell? No good German bars in NYC? Some of the best places in the city are German!

Loreley: http://www.loreleynyc.com/
Munich style German place, great atmosphere, beer garden in the back, lots of sausage.

Lederhosen: http://www.lederhosennyc.com/
They serve the beer by the boot

Zum Schneider: http://www.zumschneider.com/
I dont remember much because I had too much beer there, but the pretzels were good.

So yeah, forget that. Deutschland über alles.

I never thought there would be a scenario where I agree with Jezo over Ron, but I definitely 100% agree with Jezo here.

Dude!

no offense to ron, but why would you even take what he says about this seriously. he doesn't drink, and he is an older guy with a wife and kids. his idea of a good bar is probably far from most peoples.

Wasn't Ron referring to soccer bars?

There is a place on 1st Avenue near either 10th or 11th St that makes currywurst just like you get it in Berlin. excellent German beer selection, too.

I didn't hear the quote but if Ron is saying there aren't good soccer bars in NYC, I disagree with him even more than if he said there are no good German restaurants, bars. Only way this makes sense if he is saying you can't see German football, like Bayern Munchen or Bremen, like you could in Bavaria. No denying that.

I must need to be more specific. He said there are no good soccer bars where germans primarily go to watch soccer.

Looks like I am completely agreeing with Ron. I was mislead by Lord Jezo

Isn't there that place actually called katja's place or something like that? There was a creepy jezo-esque thread about it as well.

No he didn't. Please provide a quote that says he said something about good soccer bars where Germans primarily go to watch soccer.

He said there were no good German bars. His statement was wrong. Maybe he meant there are no good German bars where he could go and watch the world cup with a rowdy crowd. If so that statement is wrong too. Just look at the Zum Schneider picture page, they are having a party for every German game, which Loreley is doing as well.

They even spilled out onto the streets when Argentina lost.

Ron did not say a good German soccer only bar.

yeah, I thought the trains were supposed to run on time and the servers stay running when Germans are in charge. Is Katja really German? I'm starting to question her Aryan-ness.

I live on the upper east - apparently rons neighborhood - and one of my favorite bars is german

Heidelberg!! Im sure I butchered the spelling, but that place is authentic german and lots of fun. You drink german beer out of a boot served by germans who give you hot pretzels! What more do you want??

Cafe Katja ended up being an Austrian bar. It was awesome but its super tiny. Want to go tomorrow? I'll be in k-town for Karaoke around 7, we can go hang out with some goulash afterwards.

Nah, just a Katja Krunch.

Only the most popular cereal in German since the smurf-berry version (they thought smurfs were jewish).
