I guess God needed to buy himself a dynasty.

Yankees always die in threes. Someone make sure Jeter isn't taking flying lessons.

As a lifelong Yankees fan, he had his faults, but he was one of the few owners who actually looked to the Yankees as his only priority. A lot of owners see their teams as a hobby or side business.

Him and Billy Martin are together again

Even though he was a hardass, you can't fault the guy for wanting to win and doing whatever he could to do so.

Right about now King George is facing his judgement. And just like George Costanza’s father, God is asking him:
<O:p</O:p
“What the hell did you trade Jay Buhner for?! He had 30 home runs, over 100 RBIs last year! He's got a rocket for an arm... You don't know what the hell you're doing!"<O:p</O:p

Ha, I put this in the "voice of God" death thread and it's really starting to happen now. My guess was mr. freddy would pass as he was forced to dig sheppard's grave with his lead spoons from his 1920's "silverware" collection.

If Yogi were to pass, it would be the first of the three I actually like a lot. Yogi is just one of those guys who is a pleasant guy at all times. I've met him a bunch of times at the Jackals games in Montclair and he literally just talked baseball with me for a long time. He favors a cap too by the way, as he giggled that it would make his old teams look even better! He's just a goof and never took himself, his team or the game too seriously. My chick grew up with one of his grand kids and has a ton a great things to say about him too.

Man I hope Yogi isn't #3.

Yah he sucked until money became a HUGE factor. He was linked to illegal campaign contributions to fucking Nixon and suspended from MLB for 2 years bc of it. He followed this up by being a complete asshole on every level and was indefinitely suspended by Fay Vincent for actually paying money to dig up dirt on Dave Winfield bc Dave was suing this "one of a kind" asshole for not owning up to a deal/contract. You know, all around nice guy Dave Winfield doing work for charity since day one and up to this very moment.

Guess who stepped in and not only let him back in, but then somehow got the reins handed to him full-time after he showed he had what it takes to run (kiss yank ass and help monopolies) MLB? You guessed right, our AWESOME, also one of a kind, Bud Selig! Yah! Funny how the past is forgotten as soon as you win whether you earned it or not. Kobe Bryant the rapist anyone? Fuck George for real. I joked with Bob Sheppard but he wasn't an asshole. I just didn't like his voice and or style, admittedly bc I probably associate him with the yanks. Yet this guy was just a world class asshole and is only known bc he fucking had money. He was a fucking complete failure until he lost power and others took over with unfettered purse strings for him. He did jack shit outside of opening up his wallet. Oooooo!

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!!!!!! (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38232917/ns/business-personal_finance/)

Born on the Fourth of July, George Steinbrenner left the world stage with a great sense of timing too.
By dying in 2010, the billionaire and long-time New York Yankees owner's wealth avoids the federal estate tax, likely saving his heirs enough money to field an entire team of Alex Rodriguezes.
Steinbrenner's death Tuesday came during an unplanned year-long gap in the estate tax, the first since it was enacted in 1916. Political wrangling has stalemated efforts in Congress to replace the tax that expired in 2009.

I don't think I'm as angry as you, however it is funny to hear the news reports calling him a New York Yankees legend, when he was lobbying to move the team to New Jersey prior to the dynasty (remember Guiliani actually had to step in?). The Bronx drew terrible attendance pre-championships and this Yankees icon wanted to MOVE THE TEAM.

I don't fault people for being sad though, death sucks.

Your Sox did a pretty damn good job at helping in the 9th inn..

Beltre getting blown away, and Ortiz running slower than a Moyer fastball.
