Should there be one? For instance, the Suzyn Waldman audio from years ago? The "Miller" bit that still pokes its head out once and a while? Anyone still enjoying these?

no... I understand there are new listeners from time to time; but I do not see them gaining the poularity worthy of replaying old bits. I think most people listening have been there for several years and get nothing out of bits like Bruer's LI moped bit. I also feel they replay a lot of stuff that really wasn't that great to begin with.

Is there anything less funny than Ant with the slidewhistle. I mean, how young would you need to be to laugh at that.

Driving bits into the ground something they have been doing since WNEW. Not going to change anytime soon, especially with Opie's obsession on trying to make a video or bit go viral.

The way O&A bits wear out their welcome, they don't have a shelf life; they have a half-life... geh geh geh

I for one will never tire of the Waldman bit. Total douche chills.

That bit is fantastic. I literally lol'd when Jimmy did her: " George is in george's box". Never gets old. Plus mike shmidt is great. Haven't done miller much lately thankfully.

There was this one time they didn't do that. Ant must have been eating/drinking.

I was sick of the play off the Miller bit awhile back. What are some of the other...fill in the blank.

Great thread, there's a ton of them. Along with Miiike, there's "Hello Bill" and "Hi John", which neither of which I get the reference on. "How did it happen", Opie starting off the show laughing every day for no reason as though something funny just happened, Opie hanging up on people. I have no idea who Yaffit Koto is but Jim uses him as an off-the-shelf reference repeatedly. The "lets make fun of Steve by saying 'yes' over and over again in a voice which sounds nothing like his while we call him gay which he clearly isn't" for 20 minutes is old and fast-forward worthy. Ditto for making fun of Erock. Finally, I could live without the "Let's talk about how much we like iPhone for an hour".

I love the show, but they sure do have some old standbys. I'm glad I don't have to kill 4 hours of airtime a day.

No one can bring up Popeye's chicken on the show. With out Opie losing his shit.

Yaphet Kotto

Probably best known for his role in Alien. I liked him a lot in Homicide: Life on the street

Please retire the FU line already. It's not funny, it's not interesting and it's not edgy. When they brought it in, it made sense because it was on terrestrial, although I thought the bit sucked then as well, but now it's not even relevant anymore. And it just goes on and on and on and on. I know on paper that 3 minutes doesn't sound like a lot of time, but on air it's a lot.

And of course, it's not set as it's own segment in the pad data on purpose. It has to be included in the beginning of the next break so if you recorded the show, you can't fast forward through 3 awful minutes because it's part of a larger block of time. Because it's SO important and hilarious, it just HAS to be heard.

This a thousand times this. I think they started that in the WAAF days

So fucking true. So utterly pointless and unfunny. Who is actually calling that shit?

"Yeah, I wanna give a big fuck you to.........." ugh.

Eh, gives people an outlet and it plays during commercials so who cares

I forgot how funny the miller audio was.

So much O&A hate on this board. Should Ron and Fez do the same thing? Retire the black Earl song? SSHUS? The electronic mail - mail sent electronically sound bite? Retire Fezatorials - oh wait, I think they have done that already?
NO
Signature bits are what defines each show - leave em alone - leave em Alone!

I agree, the classic bits are part of the shows...if you don't like one, turn the radio dial :smoke:

Maybe people should culture jam the FU Line with Sarcastic Congratulations to support Fez.

I am so through with the Black Earl Song.

Way to quote the show, drone... Sorry, this is a discussion about bits we'd like to do without. If you disagree, turn to a different thread

Yeah, I do. Sorry but I'm okay with my favorite shows dropping stagnant bits. I'm all for both shows evolving and don't see the need to cling to bits from the dark ages. I miss the comedy pyramid more than anyone. But it doesn't work anymore so I am okay with it being gone. I would say the same for a lot of old bits.

No, there really shouldn't be a "shelf life". each little thing works great when appropriate. I always find myself laughing when potato flakes are mentioned.
