At some point you need to take a step back and ask yourself if what you expect from a movie is at all possible. I think some people get really locked into that, and Ron seems to be. You need to say "what did this movie attempt and what did this movie acompish" not "what did I expect and what did this movie deliver."

I also think ron's off on how the dreams were like real life, and how that was a bad thing. The point is, if you're in the dream it seems real. Only afterwards do you realize it was bizarre. One if th big points of the movie was not being able to tell dream from reality; if there were talking 20 foot tall purple buzzards that goes out the window.

I think Ron is being too critical about the reality of the dreams. The whole premise of shared dreaming is beyond science fiction and approaching nonsense, but the movie is able to work without offering any real kind of background or explanation for how this technology works or what it is, etc. You just have to kind of swallow the premise and let the concept play out. Within the structure of the premise, I think it makes a fair amount of logical sense.

Ron is nit picking. Kids stay with the grand mother, Michael Cane presumably travels home in between semesters, or when his visiting professor job is done. Kids may not have aged all that much in the time he was gone, was not established how long he was gone for. The image of the kids is the same as his memory to close the film with roundness, the difference being that he saw their faces which he wouldnt allow to happen in the dream.

Not a totally happy ending, he's infected with the seed of doubt.
