so my yearly sub runs out soon,to renew for the yearly rate it's a 25% savings, down from 50%,does the ol "well just cancel my subscription" thing still work? has anyone tried this since the merger? with so many different options out there i'm thinking of cancelling and saving a few bucks, what have you people done?

I re-upped in March. No discount for additional subs, no free XMRO. Basically an ass fucking. I'll probably drop all my subs next year.
Way to reward loyalty, you Sirius dick sniffers.

We got a 60% discount on all of our subs because we said they were charging too much. We also have 20 subs.

Really? You get that if you renew your subscription?

Yes please!

20 gives you a lot more leverage than 3.

Yeah. Another funny thing is when I see all the people here that get XMRO problems, I rarely do.

i want to try the "i'm cancelling if i cant get half off for a year" route but i'm afraid they'll call my bluff and i'll have to cancell and hope they come back later with a sweet deal and i only have 1 sub so that worries me

My sub ran out last month and I'm not re-upping. There is too much good online programming out there to give these shitbags money. As tub said, there is no loyalty. Guess I will have to get the buddays via audible, but I sure miss listening live.

I doubt we'll be getting any "deals" from Mel anymore. You could be a one-eyed homeless leper whose last meal was grass and pine cones and still be in better financial shape than Sirius XM. They are barely cash flow positive in their good quarters; Mel just barely rolled over a boatload of debt last year (they would be in bankruptcy if he couldn't) and I would bet that he sold the producers' blood donated during the last "Red Cross" drive to come up with a few extra shekels to keep Howard in place when his contract expires. Unless Sirius generates more income than it has in the past and controls expenses (which neither company ever did) they'll be out of business surprisingly fast.

I'm mentally preparing for some payroll dumps as contracts expire and I'm afraid that the 202 crew may not be "must haves" in Mel's menagerie.

I can say that the "I want to cancel my subscription definently works".

I have only been subscribing to XM since last christmas. Originally got it with best of sirius to see if stern was any good and ended up discovering and only listening to ron and fez.

Well I just called the other day to cancel cause I was fed up with getting a new random higher price every 3 months (Though they would fix after calling). After rejecting their original 19.99 for 5 month offer they just gave me 3 months free and told me to call back in 3 months for a new offer. I found a different number that I guess isnt hard to find but you get an american almost everytime which I have found makes the process easier.

So if you don't mind haggling on the phone a bit I think they are trying to just keep customers atm, why else give it for free...

Those rates aren't really "new." Lots of us have been getting ass raped by them for a long time now. I dropped my personal receiver when they took effect to control costs.

Last time I renewed I got 6months XM with Online 128k Streaming and Best of Sirius for $60 for 6 months they guy who I talked to on the phone then told me to call up right before it ends and I should be able to get the same deal. The reason I got this deal was because of some billing errors on their side and I kept on calling and complaining about the online feed not working. I was persistant and nice on the phone and they hooked me up.

Them calling my bluff was always my fear. But it worked the last time, I wouldn't have really canceled there are to many things I enjoy on the platform.

I ended up getting an "american" also after being transfered a few times and the guy was really cool. XM customer service blows I hear Sirius' is a little better.

Ya I got the number to a 'corporate office' from this page, went directly to someone based in states. I can't remember which one I dialed exactly but it was one I found in a review, maybe the 800 one but I thought it was different than what was on the xm website. After reading the reviews I was really glad I never gave them my CC or checking.

Damn, I love the XM business model. By the end of November, I will have paid a little over 10 bucks for a year of service.

I think all the mods quit this place, I haven't seen the guy who would break up a conversation in a thread to remind a new poster their signature was to big in a long time (thank god)

I called to add an online subscription and cancel my radios and they first offered to give me three months at $20 something then three months free. Then they told me I still needed to have one radio active so I kept one and got the three months or whatever at $20 something.

Why is the company shit again?

A few years ago, whenever they put O&A on suspension for the Homeless Charlie thing, I called to "cancel" and the chick on the phone (with an accent) called my bluff. She knew what I was up to and told me that there was going to be a charge to reactivate, so I bailed. I called right back and got another operator who wasn't as wise, and they cut my rate to around $6/month. It's since crept back up when they started charging for online (used to be included) and then when the "promo" rate ended. I have to call every now and then and threaten to quit again.

In fact, today might be a good day for that.
I really prefer XM to FM, but I have enough other options that it's not going to be worth more than $10/month.
