Who didn't have concentration camps? The US had Japanese concentration camps during WWII but you hardly hear about that, how America rounded up the Japs during this time. without getting into a discussion on the treatment of native americans, Germ Theory as the cause of illness would not be discovered for another 100+ years after this occurred. any ideas that the settlers gave the native americans infected blankets as some sort of biological weapon is revisionist nonsense. at most, the settlers might have thought the blankets were 'cursed' or some other superstitious nonsense...

It's not exactly swept under the rug. Unless you know nothing at all about history, it's very common knowledge. And, though the conditions at some camps were poor, and many people were treated unfairly, they weren't exterminated. The camps are a stain on America's history, but in no way can be compared to the Nazi camps.
