I know most of this board is younger than me, but is there anyone who agrees with me that Shatner was more entertaining?

Shatner, and the original series in general was much more action oriented than TNG. However, the latter series was much more intellectually oriented than the first. Whatever your preference, it is unarguable that Picard, a Shakesperean trained actor, was superior in at that regard amd hence more believable.

Picard strove to discover new life and new civilizations and uphold the Prime Directive.

Kirk strove to sleep with new life, and occasionally new civilizations, and broke the Prime Directive on almost an hourly basis. Though I suppose it could be argued that by sleeping with new life and new civilizations he was simply boldly going where no man had gone before...

In either case, I'm more partial to Janeway. It's a girl thing.

True Kate, but can you deny that Shatner was the most entertaining?:)

I would have to vote for Cpt. Sisko from Deep Space Nine. I always loved that actor from when he was Hawk in Spencer for Hire(A great old show!!!), and I actually met his son at a basketball camp about 4 years ago, and he was cool too. :)

Shatner is a far better leader and much more entertaining, just like Ric Flair.

Patrick Stewart was best in Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Sorry to say.

Kirk, definitely Kirk.

EDIT: In detail. I didn't watch much TNG but I"ve seen the movies and Kirk was simply cooler. Kirk had warped morals, he constantly disobeyed the prime directive, he was more sleazy, a worse actor and I liked the cheapness. He was also willing to bang any pussy that came along even if it had a dick attached.

I think it's a bit of a generational thing. I was a kid when TNG first came out, so that's what I watched, and that's how I was introduced to the franchise. So I choose Picard, because he's pretty much what I grew up on.

No contest,

Capt. James T. Kirk and the original series handsdown.

I'll take Capt. Pike over Picard!
