Got an e-mail from XM today. As of August 19, all XMRO subscribers will now have to log in via sirius.com.
This means you'll have to learn all new channel numbers, including The Virus now being 197.
Guess this means all XMRO 3rd party apps will be finished.

...but there's Sirius 3rd Party apps (at least, there are for my phone) so those should be in play.

It's about goddamn time they streamline both platforms. I guess with the Sirius/XM 2.0 (http://www.orbitcast.com/archives/new-sirius-xm-20-satellite-radios-due-in-2011.html)radios that are going to be released in 2011 both will be the same channel numbers.
Although I didn't get an email and haven't seen it posted on any of the sat radio sites.
And I wouldn't worry about the 3rd party streaming apps they are usually fixed quickly after the company does an update. And the way they code their streams it's easy to manipulate.

Those with 3rd party apps will see no change other than the channel lineup...at the most you'll have to click Sirius instead of XM. Otherwise, the apps are interchangeable.

BTW this is how easy it is to mess with Sirius/XM's login check user name and password system.
"Someone" I know made an app that lets you stream and record ( mp3, flac , ogg, wav) without ever having a online sub. "Someone" found a way to get the stream without having a valid login.

Both the front and backend of the online streaming is built like shit. Thanks to that all these 3rd party streamers are able to be fixed when they change something.

I was wondering why I wasn't seeing anyone else posting about this.
The e-mail didn't contain a link to read more about the changes and the e-mail itself was personalized to me, greeting me by my full name and telling me what my new username will be.
Here's how the e-mail reads:
Dear Dan [EDIT],

I got an e-mail.
That's weird, I didn't get an email and there is nothing on their website saying this and I can't find anything about it on Orbitcast or Siriusbuzz.com and yesterday they had their second quater conference call and it wasn't brought up. I'm all for the streamlining of the platforms but knowing this company it will be a massive cluster fuck when they combine the two. Nobody will be able to log in, nothing will work etcetera.
You will also see that message if you access XMRO through the xmradio.com

This is going to be a mess if everyone has to wait until the 19th to transfer their accounts.
I just tried doing it tonight, but it wouldn't recognize the username they told me to use.

Is Sirius ever going to stop fucking us?
Anyone here have Sirius before the merger, has it always been a shitty company or did it turn bad with the merger?
I haven't got any emails or anything either. I even get the weekly xm spam too. This sounds like a clusterfuck in the making.

No e-mail for me yet, do you have XM with the Best of Sirius? Maybe they are just moving all of those over to Sirius.

I'm just an XMRO subscriber. Best of Sirius (minus the sports) is standard with the online service.

okay comapny that turned real shitty with the merger, great stations disappeared and music selection got very repetitive & stale

I was talking to the guy who owns http://www.tss-radio.com/ and he told me that he hasn't heard anything but they might be tapering the emails and updates out to people so that way everyone dosen't have to do it at once.

how are they fucking us? They are making it easier putting everything together so it's one channel number. Each show or DJ you listen to won't have to say your listening to ___ on Sirius # and XM #
Now they will just be able to say your listening to _ on Sirius/XM #

This is what I got when I signed into XM's site:
**********Important Notice**********
As of August 19, 2010, your account will move to the SIRIUS Premium Internet Radio platform. You must now sign on at sirius.com. This change will not affect the programming you currently enjoy.
Go to www.sirius.com and click on the media player link at the top of the page. Sign in with your current username (letters and numbers only). Follow the "forgot password" directions to generate a new password.
Ex. Old username "John.Smith@yahoo.com" becomes "johnsmithyahoocom"
Thank you for being a loyal listener.

I listen at work through Musicdock because XMRO is blocked. Are there any Sirius 3rd party sites where I don't have to download anything (red flag at work)?

I'm gonna miss listening on 202.

What are some good Sirius 3rd party online players?
I assumed the Sirius Yahoo widget would be just like the XM Yahoo widget, but it's much bulkier. When I was a dual subscriber several years ago, the 2 widgets looked identical.
I just want something small and offers presets.

When I couldn't renew with xm online, and was forced to Sirius, I couldn't stomach it and just went with audible sub. Screw Sirius.

I tested out 3 Sirius players tonight. The player at sirius.com doesn't work at all for me, which is fine, because I need a player that doesn't time out.
Downloaded 2 players, tested them both and discovered the Virus only plays at 49K...XMRO plays at the much higher quality of 129K.
I'm really going to hate this move when it becomes permanent.

Do you only listen online or do you have the service in your car/home?
Pretty sure this change is only for people who pay for the online service.

That must be it. I have a radio in car as well. It must be for the online only people. Which I didn't even think you could do with XM.
I haven't heard a thing from xm.

Yeah I still haven't got an email and there is no notice on the XMRO web player. I do have a radio and pay extra for the online. Maybe they are going to slowly move everyone over. Starting with the people who only sub to online first.

2 weeks later and I'm still using my XMRO Widget. I haven't tried signing in via XM's site, so I have no idea if that still works.
A couple days ago I get an e-mail from Sirius letting me know my free online trial expires in 2 weeks and then billing will start.
I was confused, so I checked my bank online and noticed XM never billed me this month. So with the transfer, I got a free month of service.

Some Sirius gearhead reading this will close that loophole for us.
I've still been signing onto XM. I tried following the instructions they sent me on how to log on at Sirius but they don't work.
