Look, I like Arrested Development like the rest of you, but that shit was on for 4 seasons. I know officially its 3, but the first season of most series is short, whereas Arrested had a really long one, so essentially seaons 1 and 2 are combined. 4 seasons is enough of anything (which is perhaps why God saw fit to give us 4 seasons in a year.) If it had kept going it would've started to drop off and noone would like it as much. Lets end the myth that Arrested Development is the electric car of TV shows, and republicans made it get cancelled because it was curing AIDS. Put Arrested Development in the thread Shows that were on the perfect amount of time for us to continue enjoying them on DVD and in rerun.

Right on!!! I love AD, but it had a good run!!! Yeah, shitty shows are on much longer, but there are, what, like 70 episodes of AD??? Stick to shows that were given the axe that only got one season at the most!!!

No wonder it bothered you, since it was based in Hells Kitchen, NYC.
I agree that Arrested Development was on for the right amount of time. I don't know if it could have kept up that level of genius for 10 years.
Other shows I would have liked to have a few more seasons:
Firefly

I think Flashforward ended when it should have......the way they dealt with some of the characters was just fucking obnoxious.....the main characters wife was annoying as shit, and that fucking crybaby nurse dude looking for that random asian girl was a puss. that show had some major issues, but i was glad they at least got through the main storyline.

i think the most criminal of all shows that was canceled early was freaks and geeks. ONE season, amazing cast, writing and excellent music(which held up the dvd release because of the rights to get every song).
Honorable mention
BBC show Pulling-canceled after 2 short bbc style seasons with a christmas special just like the UK office. I Thought this was great and they wanted to do more but were canceled
Undeclared-not nearly as good as freaks and geeks but in a similar vein. A little corny at times but still better than big bang theory.
Futurama-revived from the dead by comedy central
Seinfeld(According to larry king)
Shows i wish had longer seasons/more episodes but didn't by choice
Extras-Gervais's second show, short and sweet. I wanted more
Summer heights high-Australian tv show, fucking hilarious. One season

Summer heights high-Australian tv show, fucking hilarious. One season
I remember reading about how the show was histerical, but didn't find the first episode funny. I kind of made myself watch it a little more and I was hooked.
But didn't he decide not to do a second season? I remember him saying something along the lines of how he didn't want to continue doing the characters because he didn't want them to out stay their welcome.
I don't think these count, but I miss The Critic and Mystery Science Theater.

Murder One (on ABC).
This show was ahead of it's time, and certainly smarter than it's audience.
Legal drama.... hour long... followed ONE courtcase from start to finish. 22 episodes about expensive, brilliant, pitbull lawyers trying to exonerate their young movie-star client.
Fascinating.
It even won an emmy, but the network STILL wasn't able to raise awareness for the show. (see also: Arrested Development)

I think they only did the gimmick of devoting the entire season to a single trial once, but, yeah, it was a brilliant look into the legal system. I mean, what other show could have made an entire episode about jury selection into high drama?
Plus, that bald dude whose name I can't remember is a damn good actor.

Correct. The first season followed one case. ("one murder" / "Murder One")
The 2nd season... they followed three cases. A young girl who might have killed the govenor of California... a basketball superstar who might have murdered his agent over a contract dispute.... and a serial killer who only murdered criminals whose lawyers manipulated the legal system)
Daniel Benzali (the bald guy) was replaced. For the 2nd season... the firm hired a new marquee lawyer to attract high-profile cases. "Jimmy Wyler" = Anthony LaPaligia.
