my dad had the same problem in the hospital. he's a recovering alcoholic (4-5 months sober) and when he had his stomach tumor removed, they had him on the mean pain meds drip. i wasnt gonna deny him pain meds, but i had them control it very carefully. i asked that he only have one extra dose an hour if it was really bad, which he could control (as he had pieces of almost every internal organ removed, i knew he would need something). it was a rough time for all of us. we were all hypervigilant and even he was fighting off the offers for extra pain meds.

A guy got into a fight and ended up paralyzing the guy he was fighting. In sharia law you can demand that the person who has wronged you suffer the same fate. So the person that got paralyzed asked for his assailant to be paralyzed as well. So now the judges are trying to find out if it's medically possible.
