Has anyone ever flown Spirit and what can you say about the experience? Good? Bad? Scary?

From what I understand, they just got a bunch of new planes, so I'm curious. I want to fly them out of ACY and take some cheap fares.

I thought they were re named South West Airlines..

Did not know they were even around..

Didn't the have a huge crash because of fucked up planes or inspections?

No. Valujet is what you are thinking of, and they were merged into Airtran.

Spirit has the youngest airline in the fleet at 3.3 years old per plane. They took deliver of 30 new planes earlier this year.

No Spirit experiences, but I will say Airtran is the WORST!

P.S. How long till the first Sprint joke?

Shockingly, I've listen to more of O&A this weekn than I did with R&F.

Ron was talking with some hosebag about no-fault divorces for a fucking HOUR today. I turned it off.

First came up back in June, and repeated by callers at least a few times a week ever since.

$40.00 for a carry on
$25.00 to reserve a seat

Their fares are cheap, but when you add on the "extras" that are really essentials it get pricey pretty quick. Sprint also has plane with pre-reclined seats. (Which was the story that Fez was telling when he renamed them) Pre-reclined aka you're sitting up straight.

Used to fly them from NYC to Myrtle Beach, but over time they have just gotten shittier and shittier.

Good to know, but do the pre-reclined seats Fez was talking about on the new planes they received in March?

I just did some random bookings and it was 118 for the three of us. Even with 75 dollars to reserve the seat and then 50 bucks for a check bag and carry on, 250 for all three of us is still less expensive than flying a "non value" carrier.

I flew them down to Myrtle Beach from A.C. back in May. It was extremely easy and I had zero complaints with the flight on the whole. The only thing I hated was buying my ticket then buying my seat on top of that. What was the fucking point of that?

Extra fees... get the traffic to the site and then "gotcha" with more seating if you want to reserve your seat, like you want to sit next to your girl or your kid.

I would have preferred to just stand out of principle

Spirit's a good airline. I've never had any problems with them.

spirit sucks a dick.

flew with them to PR this past winter. it was the first time and the last. let me count the ways that they ruined my travel exp:

1. my flight from lga to ft lauderdale was delayed by 3 hours. i had a connection to catch.
2. my connection from ft lauderdale to aguadilla was delayed by 2 hours.
3. the seats were so squished, i almost went into a full on panic attack (im claustrophobic). i couldnt get the meal tray to past by boobs. not that it mattered because,
4. there was no beverage service on any of the flights. everything was so overpriced that a snack sized $.50 bag of chips cost 3 dollars.
5. the planes smelled and were dirty. it truly felt like i was in cattle class.
6. i was on 3 hour flights and there was no entertainment. not even radio. luckily i brought my own entertainment but i could barely access it (see 3).

i hated every minute of the journey. it was the same shit with delays on the return trip too. i am officially jet blue spoiled. people may shit on them, but ive had nothing but stellar experiences with them. when i was booking my spirit tix online, i was surpised how they were nickel and diming me all the way through. in addition to the flight base fare, cuz thats what it is, they charge you for your seat, $12 for window or aisle and $7 for the middle seat (wtf?!) per connection, baggage fees which were per leg of the journey, which means a connection meant that you were paying baggage 2x. by the time i was done, it was the same as taking a direct flight with jetblue. i dont even want to think about the damn carry on fee that have now either..

dont fly with spirit. its a terrible terrible airline.

OK, again, this sounds like this happened before they took delivery of the new planes in March.
