As far as I know, most people wear their wedding rings on the fourth finger of their LEFT hand. My parents were Russian Orthodox and wore their rings on their RIGHT hands. I just thought that was just some freak thing about us. I never really paid much attention to this.
This weekend I saw The Orphanage (GREAT movie from Spain) and the couple wore their wedding rings on their RIGHT hands.
Are their certain countries/religions that wear their wedding rings on the RIGHT hand?

Alot of countries/religion see the left hand as the evil or bad side, so they do everything with the right

Quick search...
Poland, Colombia, Greece and India are among the cultures who follow the tradition of placing the wedding band on the right hand

Don't know. My Ex-wife wore her wedding band on her left ring finger and I wore my wedding band on my left thumb because the fingers on my left hand are all kinds of fucked up. I guess it didn't work out all that well.

RE: Wedding Ring Hand Query
Dear Mrs Fuzzy Butt.
I Apologize in advance for this informal response but I get hundreds of querys daily and can only personaly respond to a select few.
I recieved and carefuly considered your query titled 'Wedding Ring Hand'. Although it showed promise and potential, unfortunatly, we felt that ultimatly it was not right for this poster.
Remeber that posters are very selective and all it takes is one right answer, and urge you to continue querying other posters.
Best Wishes
Kevin..

In some cultures, the proper placement for a wedding ring is down the drown.
Alot of countries/religion see the left hand as the evil or bad side, so they do everything with the right
Except wipe their asses.
I always thought that Europeans and gays wear them on the right hand.
Seriously.

If he's going to do that he might as well order the pinky ring and a big medallion.
In 2010, I think the traditions are only as important as you want them to be.
I know a chick that wanted an engagement laptop (since that's something she'd use more), and the couple is happily married a few years later.
I got a fairly "modern" style ring, and my wife got something fairly simple... kinda for the symbolism, but also it's just some cool-ass jewelry, and kind of an ice breaker (oooh, tell me about your ring...).
More importantly to me, we bought our rings from an old local jeweler who'd been in our town for generations, so I felt good about being a part of that history more than the "wedding" tradition itself.
