I'm planning a road trip through North and South Carolina. Any places of interests that I should check out? Tourist spots? Etc. etc.

Things to do in North Carolina (near the major cities/roads but willing travel to offbeat paths for unique and cool stuff)- tourists spots and fun stuff.
By the coastline or more inland
Thanks!

I would go to this place just to take pics after all the signs they have letting my know how many miles to South of the Border.

No hunting or fishing outdoor stuff.
Hiking and nature walks are okay.

In North Carolina you can raise up, take your shirt off and spin it around your head like a helicopter.
South Carolina, Charleston is beautiful and Myrtle Beach is one of the more fun places I've been to if you're into golf.

I concur. And for a small southern city, the bars aren't too bad, and have lots of live music. Just be careful, if you're allergic to patchouli.

The Wilmington area is the only native habitat in the world for Venus Flytraps. I recommend doing a little research to find a park that features them in the area you're going. Also, I check out roadfood.com whenever I go on a roadtrip.

Yeah, that's a whole lotta land there. You could check out the mountains and you can check out the beach, but they're not exactly near each other.
My first thought about SC is Charleston In fact, that's probably all you really need to see. If you want some real adventure, check out Andrews SC, the Home of Chubby Checker.
NC can suckadick.

Wilmington has the Battleship North Carolina, right? What else is there to check out there. I'll check out roadfood.com for some eats along the way. Thanks again.

Cool, might check that out too. Do they have a statue of Chubby Checker doing the twist. That would make a good road trip pic stop.

Asheville, Charleston, and Wilmington are all great recommendations. Also, the Outer Banks. Let me know if you find yourself on the 40/85 corridor, I can recommend some decent places to eat.

Charleston is a beautiful city but I was a little weirded out by all the memorials to the Confederacy that are everywhere.* There is a couple of days worth of touristy things to do (eg. boat ride to Ft.Sumter, carriage rides through the downtown historic section), some outstanding restaurants ( I recommend Anson) but the thing you cannot miss is Marion Square Park in the warm weather. It is a couple of blocks from the College of Charleston. I stayed at a hotel adjacent to the park a couple of years ago and was literally dumbfounded by the masses of smoking college chicks sunbathing there. I remember thinking, when some blood returned to my brain, that if this is what those crazy Islamic radicals think heaven is like I understand why they are so eager to strap on a dynamite vest.
Some of the surrounding islands have nice beaches too.
* I was drinking in a bar & chatting with some of the locals who, for the most part, were very cool. There was one small group of guys nearby, however, who were waxing nostalgic for the days of the Confederacy. After a half hour of this, and a few of the local beers, I piped up and said "You realize that the South came in second in the Civil War, don't you?", which got a few laughs and almost got me beaten up.

Agreed. I went to Myrtle for the first time ever last year. The weather is incredible this time of the year and the place is riddled with golf courses. I would recommend Myrtle for at least 3-4 days of relaxation. Try the breakfast at a place called Tar Baby's. (true name)
The name might make you cringe but the breakfast buffet is your stero-typical bad-health-wise but great-taste-wise southern breakfast eats!
Oh and if you go golfing don't step on the piles of grey-looking dirt. It's not ground-under-repair, as I thought it was, turns out they are fire ant hills.

Thanks Numb-nuts, for the update of the obvious. I didn't step on the piles anyway, but G.U.R. is usually marked off with white paint and/or string and a sign. It was simply pointed out to me by a local because of how many fire ant hills there where.
Care to answer who's in Grants tomb while you're at it?
