The [more] ethical approach would be to inform the consumer that the product you're delivering is a lip-synch deal. If, then, you have 10% of the ticket sales, back off of your original, over-inflated estimates--likely sold by marketing savvy whizzes--and hold the event in a small venue.

Or, hang it up, already!

I disagree with Ron's take. If a band plays a cover it's to be fun, and maybe keep the band enthused or pay tribute to their own tastes. Now these are the bands I go see in small clubs, so it isn't giant tours. I do agree that if you're bitching about the band playing new stuff you aren't too into that band.

b. The shows I do watch, I pirate, because I hate the ads and like 720p video.

Compared to what? They have a 2.4 18-49 rating. For a big budget show, that's trouble territory, especially considering they were the tent-pole of NBC marketing this season. They are the #3 show in the time slot, and while that's smooth sailing for the usually last-place NBC, it's not good. The numbers actually compare to those of Flashforward, which doesn't bode well. If they atrophy to under 2.0, they are done for.

Yeah, I think he just got caught up trying to make definitive points. Because obviously noone grumbles and goes to the bathroom when a band starts playing an old song, and a band isn't going to ever only play music from their most recent two albums. People just need to relax when a band doesn't play an entire set of their first two albums.

And no it isn't the consumer, its industry greed. They know they can charge more, and play bigger venues if the set list is like a greatest hits record. The myth is that most people are music fans- most people are into music very casually and its up to the performer to give them a deeper experiance than they would create for themselves.

Last night's show may have earned a 2.4 rating, but is still a smaller percentage drop than the second week had vs. the premiere. It still has a good average and once the commercial ratings are available next week (which is the currency in ad sales), NBC might find it with even better ratings.

well hey, there is precious little space on my dvr and i can't just go deleting things all willy nilly.

The obvious irony is that in the years-long wake of Whatley's withdrawal from audibly contributing to RF, our man, The Midnight Rider, ____ ________, came up to the plate but was stymied by The Man when he tried to rise up to on-air talent status (= $$$). Now, Self-contained Todd is clearly playing the part of producer (yet, not to the extent as ____ ________), but bringing in the Big Bucks, as any genuine on-air talent should. And, that observation comes from a guy who’s listened to the radio a whole lot.

3 of the funniest scenes in comedy film history are found back to back to back in Uncle Buck.

The hatchet scene with the niece's boyfriend Bug "....take a slice off the ol knee cap", is followed by the scene at the principals office, "here's a quarter, go downtown and have a rat gnaw that thing off your face", is followed by the scene with the drunk clown, "get back in your mouse, and get the hell outta here". brilliant stuff.

was just reading through quotes in Uncle Buck.....this is still one of the funniest lines of all time for me:

[at a meeting with the assistant principal, who's got a big unsightly growth on her face]

Anita: I'm Anita Hoargarth.

Buck Russell: [Staring at it] I'm Buck Melanoma. Moley Russell's wart. Not her wart. Not her wart! I'm... I'm the wart. She's my tumor. My... my growth. My... uh, my pimple. I'm Uncle Wart. Just old Buck "Wart" Russell. That's what they call me, or Melanoma Head. They'll call me that. "Melanoma Head's coming." I'm s... uncle! Maisy Russell's uncle!

Interesting . . . Very Interesting. That, my stonie friend, Pepper, would explain this unreleased photo from the set of Ferris Bueller:

Could it be that Tyler, Cameron, and Todd Hilliard are one and the same?! That just blew my mind, man. Check it - When Fez was just talking about getting involved in the interview, he slipped and said he just wanted to "accomplice" something rather than "accomplish."

Whoa.

I know I'm late, but if pre-teens are really watching The Breakfast Club to see what high school will be like as the author suggested, they're in for a rude awakening.

I had to watch it in my freshman year health class.
