View Full Version : what is your political motivation?

I guess I should be motivated as a business and land owner, also I have three college age kids. But, mostly I find myself pulling the lever against any incumbent. So much so, that I'm pissed when I see anyone running unopposed. Rick Perry(a Republican) has got to go, but so do Silvestre Reyes(a Dem. and former head of the Border Patrol) and Ciro Rodriguez(another Dem. and lifelong politician). They've never done anything for El Paso, other than entitlement programs. What do you look for in your candidate? Is it all about party affiliation?

Any politician supporting illegal immigration and amnesty will not get my vote regardless of party.

I only support politicians who back illegal immigration and amnesty. Especially if the directly promise to give them Wrestlingfan's tax dollars.

Fuck that. I depend on those guys to cut my grass and pick up my leaves. And Im being 100% serious. I dont have the time or motivation to do that shit and none of the white kids around here would do it for nearly that reasonable a price.

Feingold is going to win by 2, and the Brewers are going to trade Fielder for pitching.

Good all the way around.

I was just wondering about folks motivation to vote, say, a straight party ticket or based on the issues candidates always seem to stand behind: abortion, gay rights, TEA, religious affiliation, etc. Things I have never given a shit about. As far as immigration goes, amnesty and registration in a data base for tracking purposes may be the only logical solution to the future potential problems with the ever growing undocumented/illegal population.

Nothings going to change. There will still be warrantless wiretaps going on, troops in every corner of the world, useless bureaucracies like the Dept of Education and Homeland Security, the income tax. Illegals still coming here, leeching off the taxpayers and pillaging the country. Its going to be more of the same except that there will be someone with a fake orange tan 2nd in line for the Presidency

I never understood people voting based solely on issues like that. Talk about a stupid w2ay to vote. My mother still votes for whatever candidate is against abortion, regardless of their other policies. I try explainging to her that abortion isnt even an issue anymore as they will NEVER overturn the abortion law, but she doesnt want to hear it. They are fucking delusional.

Just like the delusional Idiots in Charlie Rangels district. It doesnt matter about the ethics violations tax problems etc, but since he's a black democrat he gets reelected

I dont even know who that is. My point is people are still voting for politicians based on promises they can not and will not ever make happen. Its like voting for a politician because he promises to take away the blacks rights to vote.

the tea party ran a shitload of smear campaign commercials up here so i voted for everyone they smeared. i also made my feelings known on the all the local tv networks web pages and got alot of positive feedback from voters that thought it was a good idea and kept bringing up my opinion (even tho 2 websites deleated my posts). a friend of mine said they were talking about it on a local radio station and i hope this anti-smear sentiment spreads to the rest of the country and you people start thinking positivity isnt a dirty word

Your sole concern is the tone of someone's commercials?

That's like one step away from casting your vote for the candidate with the prettiest hair.

I live in NY, so any vote is basically meaningless.

I was gonna post some comment like: "They shouldn't even be allowed to bring up the other candidate or mudslinging" But many politicians are lawyers and the ones that aren't have campaign managers or attorneys on their staff so even if there were some kind of rules and standards (that it would even be possible to enforce) they would just resort to tactics like- "Vote for me! I won't........" Fill in with the horrible implication of your choice. They're all scumbags and shitheads.

I've never gotten the "all politicians are scum" outlook. It really is kooky on a base level.

Maybe I'm biased because the 1st time I voted was for my Dad for JP district court. He ran against some real lowlifes, and lost to another local businessman who was later convicted in receiving products from hijacked tractor trailers. Later a bunch of trailers were found dumped in a ravine on their family farm along with tons of stolen/hijacked stuff. Some of the others who ran in the primary were backed by local businessmen, farmers, and gov't officials in order to split the party support and steer the election. And when they had a sit-down to see about someone(who had no chance) stepping aside, they refused. Now, why would some who has no money, no home, no business spend $20 to $30 thousand on a campaign to acquire a position that pays $16,000??

Voting against any god preaching tea-partier/republican. It's a shame that the god myth is pretty much the biggest thing in republican politics today. Dont get me wrong it works just sucking in the dumbass rural americans. Republicans are all hypocrites that are prolly gay fags in the closet.

I love how all republicans want to do is CUT TAXES, DONT RAISE TAXES, how the fuck is the governement going to raise fucking money then fuckers.

Who knows how far we have fallen behind in science (stem cell research NOPE-dont want to offend jesus) and research compared to China etc.

Hopefully not shit will get done in 2 years and then people will be pissed at republicans and barack will get reeleceted and this stupid fucking pattern will continue and we will continue to never get shit done and just get elected on hate and who we hate most and fuck them and fuck her.

How the fuck is the government to get money? I would suggest beginning by cutting its size by at least 1/3 so they don't need as much money.

I worked for the government and you can't even begin to imagine what a fraudulent bunch of loafers most of it consists of. Even the job titles should tell you that--"Program Analyst" or "Supervisory Program Manager." What the fuck is that supposed to mean? It's all about accumulating power by getting a bunch of people underneath you--that's the measure of a bureaucrat's power, a fancy title and a bunch of people reporting to you. It doesn't matter that they do nothing all day but warm the seats and surf the web.

Meanwhile all this is paid for by guys sweating it out doing heavy labor, paying their taxes, and hoping they have enough left over to take their kids to Six Flags. Keep believing
the lie, keep paying, and paying, and paying. It's a great system for depleting investment capital that could fund research and development, which you do seem to understand the value of, as well as a host of other legit business activities that might actually produce something.

There are too many useless bureaucracies like the Dept of Education and agriculture. Thousands of redundant paper pushers who don't produce a thing. Education should be at the local and state level.

Face it. The Pentagons budget needs to be slashed. 700 billion dollars a year is excessive. Our military industrial complex has ballooned out of control.

Entitlements like social security, medicaid and medicare which had good intentions are unsustainable. The unintended consequences is that people are living longer. Look whats going on in Greece and France. Riots in the streets because the retirement age wanted to get raised a couple of years.

What was done yesterday by the fed was not reported en masse. They are buying 600 billion worth of treasuries. We are monetizing our own debt. Also on Dec 1 they are voting to raise the debt ceiling to 14 trillion dollars. Thats 100% of our GDP
