Fundamentally I think you're right, the media has become completely reactionary and everything needs to be escalated for us to pay attention to it. It's entertainment now, not information. It excludes massive amounts of facts, and makes the truth pliable, to serve its own purpose. It makes people apathetic to small, important things, it makes people fundamentalist in their views. It's completely awful in every way.
